Hello fellow simmers, I would like to know the names of the default FS2004-bgl-files related to the river rhine. Lost my list, new install, lots of flooding due to double river-bgl´s Can someone - with the right tool (?) and knowledge - help me out? All that water round town is quite ugly. Thanks in advance, Slide

Hey MoCat, how right you are! But this time the flood is in the wrong place, not in downtown Cologne as usual. ;D Additionally there are lots of false "islands" that look odd. It´s nonsense like this (and the real-world-affairs )what keeps me away following your fantastic tour - beside reading the posts round your 100mb- masterpiece, of course. I already spent too many valuable free hours with the search for these files instead of having flying fun

Hi Slide,
is it part of an add-on scenery package or a default FS BGL?

I am looking for the default files, Kobbe. There must be 4 or 5 of them if I remember right, and the same number related to the shorelines.

Slide,
Ding, Ding, Ding, we have an idea! I remember either AVsim or Flightsim had a replacement scenery add-on for the Rhine and Mosel.......I'll just bet, that scenery has a list of files that need removed for the add-on landclass to work!
Just an "Idea", but may prove useful.
Regards,
MoCat

Thanks MoCat - I looked after that, but found no solution. I have -as a leftover- an unsorted, thrown-together bundle of german addons which I try to reinstall. No lists, no description for this, as it is a unique, undocumented, unhistorical and unprofessional (...) mixture.

Slide, Using 'poke & hope' in TmfViewer ( Terrain SDK) the Rhein traverses the following areas in \Eurw\: XX949130, XX949140 and XX950140. I believe HP######.bgls are the coastlines. Dave

Dave explained the most important part, relating to getting the initial BGL's anyway. To go about editing it, append the LWM BGL (In your case it will be HPxxx.bgl as Dave explaineD) to Sbuilder. If the river is wide enough, you may find that they used "area fills" and then made the coast with LWM polygons and aligned them to the area fills. So, depending on what information you have, you may either just move the points in the polygon to widen it or delete the default polygons and make your own. If you aren't too familiar with SBuilder this may be a challenge. Also, you have to delete (Have a back up of course) the HPxxx.bgl file you modified and use your edited version in place of it, either in your Addon Scenery or Scenery/Eurw folder. For my Boulder City scenery I had to modify the shoreline to match up with the photo scenery. Having a "map" as a background sped up the process of creating polys by 150%. Here's a screenshot of my sbuilder file for boulder city:

Slide, Have you been able to make in progress with it yet?
Maybe this weekend I can make a video tutorial using the river that you are trying to edit.

I am looking for the default files, Kobbe. There must be 4 or 5 of them if I remember right, and the same number related to the shorelines. Slide, Depending on what type of scenery changes the addon(s) include, the following 'prefixes' would apply to the default files you are looking for: HL######=Coastlines/shorelines (vtp 'banks') HP######=Coastlines/shoreline (water mask) PK######=Parks RD######=Roads RR######=Railroads ST######=Streams UT######=Utilities (power lines) Example: if an addon replaces roads in all of area 949130 you would disable RD949130.bgl. Dave, you make my day! I did a search for one of the given numbers and it put out several of them, such as HL... or HP... and I wondered how many try-and-ouch-tests that would be to find out what they were. So, now I can go easily and fetch the HL and HP-files out of my chaos. Thanks a lot, this is great help also for the future! Kobbe, to watch your tutorial around "father" rhine would be much appreciated, of course! Real world kicks me, but I will report about my progress in drying Duesseldorf, probably tomorrow.

Solved the problem. Deleting the HL-, HP- and ST-files with numbers 949130, 949140 and 950140 in EURW worked. Everything is in it´s place. Thank you, Gentlemen!

Slide, I didn't quite understand what you were trying to do. I thought you were trying to edit the river, but you're just trying to delete it. Well, if you ever want to edit a river, coast line, lake, or default flattens, now you know how. Glad you got it all sorted out, though!
