The only thing I can think of is the really simple (but I often miss the really simple myself ;D), is to click the cream coloured banner, under the top of page header, when a download is requested to accept the download???

A lot of people have trouble downloading from AVSIM with Internet Explorer. I use Firefox and have no problem at all.

At wich point does your download stops? or it doesn't starts at all? does the screen freezes just after you press the Download button? well, if so, it can be problem with proxy servers (check the browser settings) or firewall. I have to turn the firewall off to download from Avsim.

Weel, I don't know what is going on (I have XP SP2 too); you may want to contact the admins at Avsim to ask for an advice
srstaff "at" avsim.com
(Replace the "at" with the usual @; changed for bot-spamming reasons)

;D Found it I had two firewalls running at the same time. even after telling windows firewall to stop. I think one of the auto up dates turned it back on. Also the easy ftp box was unchecked again. So now I will know to go back and check my settings. the next time it messes up. As I can not trust windows to stay the same
