within the limits of my computer. That's why - after some modification, I tend to fly HTAI aircraft when flying more modern light aircraft ... (this example wasn't) -- after "dressing" a bit, because they are - being AI designed - definately more frame rate friendly ... and with my meger dell ... that is always an issue.
For what ever reason, the ONLY aircraft that never seem to adversely impact frame rates ... or resolution issues are either the default aircraft .. OR the models created by Bill Lyons ... go figure.

It's all (mostly) in the poly count, Dale. A good predictor of how an aircraft will 'load' your system is the '*.mod' file size, which is a good indicator of the poly count. Most default aircraft, and many of Bill's, are under 1000Kb indicating a lower poly count and have little effect on my fps.
I run a system very similar to yours (HP, P4-2.4, 400mhz FSB, 1Gb PC2100 ram, pci graphics card) and find that any aircraft with more than 1100-1200kb model file begin to impact fps.

That is a good rule of thumb for modest system owners to remember. I know that recently, to be honest, Flying Sim has not been fun. However, it did cause me to spend more time putting the finishing touches to a pair of lectures I am delivering in May and one in June. I am sure the downside is having to avoid those incredibly detail aircraft ... but the upside is that it certainly would make flying a heck of a lot more fun,
