Here is a very basic question .. In the settings, Display section there is an item ... Scenery Texture size (I believe) ... the default is set to Large .... As you all know with my machine ... clarity in always an "iffy" thing ... on a short flight this morning ... I ran all the other settings to max ... scenery detail, auto-gen ... and such ... but moved the scenery texture size down to medium ... what exactly is that setting used for. Before ... and after I changed the setting .. Dale

Dale, I'm guessing your referring to 'Terrain Texture Size' who's values are Low-Medium-High. This sets the 'TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=x' value (6,7 or 8) in the FS9.cfg file. It determines the mip level (of the terrain texture .bmp's) used to draw the terrain. ( 2 (x)='mip size' so 64x64, 128x128 or 256x256 respectively). As seen in your images (particularly #1), the lower the setting, the less detail in the terrain texture. Examples: Low High Dave

the first screen shot is what it looks like .... it does it on its own ... pops to that distortion ... then, it I hit alt .... and then back again ... the screen clears ... it does this far too often ... I was wondering if there is a decent setting that will help cure this "Dell" problem ... it seems to do it, no matter what I do to the "settings" ... from frame rates ... to maxing out the auto-gen, scenery details, etc to setting all to the mins.

This has TOTALLY ceased being even remotely enjoyable .... dumping FS9 and progressing to the rear ... FS2002
