Hi all,
First post here! So let's introduce myself first a little. I am a Belgian university student (that might explain any grammatical or orthographical oddities you might find in this, and maybe future, posts . Oh yeah, I am also member of Bush Flying Unlimited, known under the same nickname there.
So let's get to business.
First of all, I'd like to thank Lynn and Bill Lyons for their gift to the Flightsim community. I was planning to buy the Goose once they "got back in business". You can imagine my surprise when I found them avaiable for download on a beautiful summer morning (not really a beautiful morning, but this sure made it! )
I downloaded most of the Custom Classics by now, and I have already spent many hours of fun on them. I would gladly have given my money for each one of them if they would still have been payware.
There are, however some minor issues with these addons. I've listed them below. Take note that they are only *minor* issues, and that I still love to fly each and every one of these planes.
Mr. or Mrs. Lyons, should you happen to read this, you guys are pure genius!
Classic Goose:
1. The gauge refresh rate in the VC is very slow compared to other planes (including other Custom Classics). This is my main issue, actually. The Goose would be my favorite if it's gauges would react smoother. It's quite frustrating to fly on instruments like this. Is there something I can do to make them smoother?
2. The external textures of "Cutter's Goose" seem blurry, compared with the other paints.
3. The Nose textures of "Cutter's Goose" appear grey from the VC, based on the external model, they should be white/red/black. The Avalon Airservice's nose appears blue like it should from the VC, however.
Admitted, the last two are only the result of my nitpicking, but I mentioned them anyway.
Golden Hawaii:
Trying to land on the Carrier, I flew (or fell, more like ) through the ship like it didn't exist and landed on a landing strip underneath the ship. It seems the landing strip is just placed a few feet to low, how can I change this?
Piper Tripacer:
(Currently my favorite!)
The hotspots in the VC for this plane work perfectly. On the exterior model, however my cursor doesn't seem to detect them (by changing into the pointing hand), or they don't exist. Do I need special software for them to work?
Thanks in advance, and again, my most sincere gratitude to Bill and Lynn Lyons,
CaptainCernick
Oh and by the way: I never flew with music on before and I like it very much! The right music along with the the great "old" cockpits, sceneries and periodic (air) traffic creates a complete journey back in time.
My suggestions: Pre-WWII Swing and Big Band (preferably old recordings of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorset, Benny Goodman,... ) for the Goose, S-43, Stinson,(...) and the Shadows for the Tri-Pacer, the Apache and the Challenger. (I don't know why I picked them, but there's something very atmospheric and relaxing about their music that fits perfectly in the cockpit of these planes.
