Hi, the Goose sounds wonderful but I can't get it to load. I'm using FS2004 on windows xp Sp2, never had problems like this before, but, when I go to load the aircraft from the main menu, or from the simulator itself, the box comes up loading 'scenery 0%' and before the number moves or does anything else I get a box popping up saying 'protection error'. Nothing else. It doesn't say what it is, what's causing the conflict or anything, but when I close it, it closes the whole sim.
I've read and re-read the docs, I've tried deleting fs9.cfg to let fs create a new one... I'm all out of ideas. Can anyone please give me an idea what to look for?

This is going to sound stupid James, but go into Settings/scenery library and move one scenery layer up or down so it will rebuild when you restart FS. The other possibility is an AFCAD conflict and those can be nasty.
A couple details please, where are you flying the goose? And have you tried the flights that came in the package?

Ok, I tried moving a scenery layer up so it rebuilt the database, it didn't do anything. I'm trying to fly the goose anywhere.... I can't get it to load, because it crashes straight away, even with the flights that came in the package. Bill's other planes work ok, I have the luscombe 8a and that works wonderfully, it's something in the goose that's causing the problem and I can't figure out what. The 'protection error' seems to be an internal fs error, rather than one generated by windows. I just wish it would say WHAT it's having a problem with.

Hello James, Did you deactivate the radio/cd player per the instructions? If that doesn't help try renaming the sound folder to soundb and see if it will load without the sounds. That mught give a clue, Best, Bill

Hi Bill, Yes I did try deactivating the radio/cd, no effect. Re-naming the sound folder didn't do anything, but, I did re-name the panel folder. Then the plane loaded. So it's something in there. I had a look in the panel.cfg to see if I could see anything that looked out of the ordinary, but I can't see anything in there and anyway I don't really know what I'm looking for. Except as I said above, disabling the radio/cd didn't work.

Updating on the last post, I've tried reinstalling FS2004. I've also now discovered that the tripacer aircraft has the exact same problem, it begins to load and then comes up 'protection error' at the exact same point as with the goose.
