I think it was asked before, but I can't find the post.
On the luscombe, the sign says john simmer. I want to change it to say my name. I have experience painting, but when I opened the file, the space where the name is is blank, which makes me think that it needs a different change.
Could you please tell me how to do that change?

The file you need is luscp.bmp in the main texture folder

I accomplished this myself. Umm, the files you need to edit the Air Camper, Stinson, S43, Tripacer, Luscombe, Hillcrest and the hangar at CA38 are as follows.......
pietplate.bmp will allow you to modify the little plate in the VC of the Pietenpol Air Camper.
stinplate.bmp will allow you to modify the place in the VC of the Stinson Gullwing, as well as the Mayor of Hillcrest.
pkey.bmp will allow you to change the keytag to put your initials on it for the Tri-Pacer, as well as change the name of the flight service on the hangar located at CA38.
luscp.bmp will allow you to change the keytag in your Luscombe, as well as edit John Simmer on the placard that shows up when you kill the engines and set the parking brake. You can also put your full name at the bottom, this is seen inside the glove compartment of the Luscombe
and finally
s43c.bmp will allow you to put your name in as the captain on the Sikorsky S43.
These files are saved in the main FS texture folder as 8-bit bitmaps. I used Photoshop to edit mine, which I'm sure made it 90% easier to edit them. If you use Photoshop, you'll need to use a tool like imagetool or something else so that you can first convert the image to a 24-bit bitmap, that way Photoshop doesn't have a hissy when you try to add text to the image. Then, use imagetool or whatever to convert it back to 8-bit.
The mayor of Hillcrest thing is visible when you select the Pietenpol Test Flight and take off the left, I believe. You'll see a town with a smoke stack billowing in the distance. You should see a road that leads into town, the city limits sign will be there.
