I noticed to, that departing from the Honolulu area... the downtown buildings were as dense as I remember from regualr sim .... and modern looking. ... is that something that just is ... or will that change when I make Golden Hawaii permement

Got ya.. and found it.... Now the golden hawaii problem .... not sure either... with switch active ... downtown honolulu is as dense as ever with nodern buildings ... as to your suggest re: making GOlden Hawaii a permement fixture.... I do not have in Ocen a file labeled ... scenery\ocen\scenerytb folder there are an hscenery and an msscenery folder .... might I assume that for mine ... the scenerytb would be the microsoft or msscenery? It does have the files you mentioned to not include...

If you have the folders hscenery and an msscenery then you haven't flipped the switch over to golden hawaii and are still in the modern mode. That's why you see all the modern buildings.

Then I would guess for what ever reason the switch is broke What I did then is to close the switch ... when I clicked on it - the icon.. it opens and just says "status" indicating neither .... THEN, I copied all the GH .bgls into the scenery file ... interestingly there were already there as I was asked if I wanted to overwrite ... which I did ... did the same for the Golden Hawaii Textures ... and they too were there ...in the texture file ... then using Tom's list of files not to copy over from the regular msscenery ... I open the ocen\scenery file and looked for and transfered each - not copy, rather removed each and dropped them into the msscenery folder ... and to my satisfaction, each provided a "do you want to overwrite message, meaning that indeed they were safely tucked away. I have also renamed the ghscenery, ghtexture, msscenery, and mstexture ... placing an "h" infront of each.... to make sure nothing goes looking for them. Oh... and I know this is at another post.... but.... the EXCBuilder ... I also had problems... wouldn't pull the coordinates form FSConnect. ... I must have lost that .dll in the install...so downloaded and reinstalled... still same problem... as I think I had mentioned.... I figured, oh well, what the heck .... however, for some reaosn, happened to open the modules folder and in it was a folder called FSConnect and in that folder... the fsconnect.dll just dragged and droped into the main modules fold and YES EXCBuilder works well with GW3 .... perhaps that will help. and again... first Bill.... Thank you for the incredible talents you guys have.... this is a hoot and is NOW THE PRIMARY ... no the ONLY Flightsim active on my system ..... Dale

RE: Golden Hawaii, you have totally confused me now so I hope it works for you.
RE: ExcBuilder, glad you got it working and yes it should have been a seperate post so that ExcBuilder users and wannabe users can see it.

LOL, Simply put ... just made sure that all the Golden Hawaii .bgls were in the Ocen\Scenery folder and all BUT the default .bgls that you had listed were there as well ... end result, which is what matters... it is BEAUTIFUL

Hi again Bill, Tom! I am looking at the Golden Hawaii package, and decided that if I install it in GW3 the idea of a switch to "modern" or default Hawaii is superfluous. But, the way I read it, if Golden Hawaii is switched on, you can't fly to other islands outside Hawaii ("Be sure to close fs2004 and return to the modern era when you want to fly at other Ocean locations!") Am I misreading this? I was wondering if it was possible to simply load the GH BGLs and textures directly to the main "scenery/ocen" scenery & texture folder and avoid the switch, but wonder if that would disable other scenery in the region. EDIT - This thread's also confused me, I guess being old ... But to put it another way, reading something earlier by, I think, Bill - does "throwing the switch" move the GH files into the scenery/ocen default folders temporarily? If so, I would assume that simply putting them in there and forgetting about the switch would give me a permanent GH...

The only problem with throwing the switch permanently is the loss of some detail of coastlines etc in Australasia. Using the method described by Tom in the 'faq' thread you will have GH and Australasia too, permanently.

Thanks Roger - guess I should have know it would be a common request! I'll give that a try.

If anyone has Golden Hawaii and FSE installed in FSGW3, you might be interested in a 1930's scenery that Bill Dick and I created near Maui. It's named Hokouno Bay (HHUB). If there seems to be enough interest I will get it posted.
