I just flew to Baku Island ... while making the swing to determine if there was a suitable place to tuck an airstrip near the water... to my shock - and delight.... the Volcano erupted. I noticed that Baku shows up as only an NDB ... if anyone is interested... have created an afcad ... with water strip... and starting point, next to a dock... and a small village that I created with RWY12 .... Also ... have flown over to Eel Island.... WOW, how beautiful ... have just begun the process of creating an AFCAD and will mess with it this evening after work... if anyone wants... let me know...would be happy to send along. THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH FUN.

LOL, PLease just drop me an e-mail and I will send along the files.... Also found a couple of other interesting items ... while flying east-southeast of Baku, I came upon an NDB refered to as Eel Island. figured that there must be somthing there ... and hopefully not some thing floating in the ocean, I was so floored to find an intriging island... beautifuly rugged and fairly large. Found an inlet suitable to develop, although I noticed that the lagoon changed level(sadly I hav no clue how to flatten anything... so located to the side of that, still plenty of room. Eel is located approx. 306.7nm from Boragora Lagoon at a heading of 114* the NDB(which I assume is a default- 258.0) From Baku Island fly 137nm at a heading of 101* I have no idea how to post screen shots on this forum ... so if you'd like ... can send along any if desired. Inaddition... came upon an atol... located 212nm from Boragora Lagoon at a heading of 218* ... a trypical atol ... flat... sparce trees, perfect for locating a military base, which I did, using afcad to place Macadam surface 3400' airstrip along with the steel mesh tarmacs.. and a few goodies - being confined to the limits of what RWY12 has to offer. If you are or are thinking about exploring within the Incredible Gold Monkey package that comes with Lyn and Bill's Goose package (which I am running along with GW3 and Golden Hawaii - and as a side note -IS my ONLY filightsimulator now) There are some fantastic websites out there featuring a wealth of great information about the Television Series... I know I am so saddened that I never had chance to see it in first run... it was a masterpiece prodiuced with great love by Don Belisarius need one say more. There are some great sites... but would definately reccomend this one as a great starting place... www.goldmonkey.com/index.html and one section in particular.... www.goldmonkey.com/geomodel.html Over the next several days, I plan to do a lot more exploring. My hope is that a REAL scenery maker will also begin exploring and become excited enough about the area to create great sceneries that can contain a wider range of period possibilities ... more than I would ever accomplish with my linited RWY12 talents. Nothing really to do with Flightsim ... BUT is I think related to Gold Monkey... perhaps.. Here is a fun site, with two programs to record for free ... two episodes of Terry and the Pirates!! I am sure it was one of Jake Cutter's favorite radio programs back in the late 30s www.otr.com/terry_pirate.shtmlDale

Hi Dale, It sounds like you have flown around and found most of the Islands in the Goose Package on your own. If you look in flights/Goose you'll also find included flights that take you there. Bill

I have and am using them as a springborad if you will... into finding new place to create "mini" worlds.... someday I will learn to make "real" sceneries like you guys do. Even looked at Tom's scenery down and dirty... hmmm still really can't figure it out. Now if someone develops a "scenery making for dummies" tutorial... I might be in business. This is far too much fun. Your goose package started me searching into the program Tales of the Gold Monkey and plans are to order the complete DVD package ... a truly amazing show from what I am reading ... and yours is, I think something that allows the memory of that show to survive and perhaps will introduce it to a whole new audience. As yet another side note... www.radiolovers.com/ is a fanastic site, I just found - FREE radio shows from most ALL types of radio programing of the 30s and 40s... from comedy to drama, to the variety shows and on and on. Many are downloadable ... but if you have a recorder as part of youre system... certainly can be recorded and saved. Again... want to thank you both for tis on-going project, as it not only has created the feel and texture of this ownderful era, but for me at least, inspires a new relm of creativity and excitement. Sure it allows us to experience and explore the "golden days" of flight when it truly was adventure but more so, it is perhaps for those that begin to explore more about those decades, an introduction into an incredible period in our society when ideas were truly a driving force - no one took "samplings" or looked at polls and charts ... when if you had an scheme ... you gave it a shot. When people who started and ran businesses WERE INVOLVED with the business, they lived and died their company ... not like today, when most companines are slowly being run into the gorund by executives that know little of the substance of the business, and most about creating for themselves a "golden parachute" and busy themselves raping the company out of all the money they can before things go belly-up. And we gloat over how advanced we are today. In aviation we seem proud of the fact that we can "get there" faster then ever before, forgetting that the "getting there" IS the adventure. When small air services were run by folks with a passion for flying, their bueinesses often one step ahead of (if they were lucky) the creditors ... They flew their contract, and then dined, more often than not on a dinner of franks and beans .... and drove off in some - lord knows what holds it together jaloppy, rather than some fancy, most probably leased SUV. Ah, where did we go wrong... LOLOL I keep reading and seeing the incredible work that the two of you and others are doing in this expanding new... "old" world - and seriously keep wishing that there was something substantive I could do to help contribute ... so hurry Tom with "Scenery making made simple - even for you Caruso" tutorial!!!!!! But in the meantime, what comes to mind is this .. I would lov eto perhaps package up some combinations of audio programing for Golden Wingers. Something that they could use while flying - if they choose - that would help to create the overal illusion of living in the Golden Era. (hopefully saving them the time of hunting these programs down) Then offer them - ALWAYS for free - to anyone who might want them. It might be fun... if anyone is interested let me know, though posting here. As to how long - therefore how big the files would be...I need to experiment with. I have a recorder program from Poderbits which will record in CD quality... and am currently looking at a couple of freeware mp3 recorders which, if i am not mistaken will record in a more compact format. Hey...if in any way I can contribute... for now, this is perphaps the best I can offer. Dale

Heh Heh, I do have the Tales of the Gold Monkey DVD set and it well worth the money. Some of the flights were patterened after the shows on the dvds. Very enjoyable and immersive entertainment. Good luck with the scenery making. Everyone has their favorite scenery making program and they will all get the job done. I personally have found that FreeSc is to me the most user friendly and in conjunction with ADCad, TTools, and Groundmaker can make just about anything you want. Best, Bill

I have "expanded" the Gold Monkey "tweaking" a bit, have just finished giving PTSA, Kosrae in Microneasia ... a couple hundred north of Matuka. Using AFCAD, changed the 5759 foot runway to Macadam (like the way it looks) and Coral for the Tarmac area, in addition added was a 10,000 foot water runway. Rwy12 was used to add additional trees, a small terminal, tower/office storage building and warf - complete with a couple of small vessels ....this is just too much fun. No plans to upload this ... if you would like a copy.. drop me a line... and I would be happy to e-mail you the files. Some one mentioned something at - I believe - a post about the GW3 update, that add-ons perhaps should be seperate ... I think that perhaps he has hit on something ... not sure at what point that would or should occur. But with Gold Monkey, more broadly, Golden Hawaii and foundation for it all Golden Wings .... I hope there is a time soon when we could actually have a downloads area for sceneries, repaints, etc. I have a snese that this is going to continue to grow in scope and that just pleases me to no end.

great... Alright, lets REALLY age everyone.... I have moved over to French Polynesia now... a tight cluster of tiny airstrips and medium sized ones, great for adding this and slightly increasing that. Suddenly, as I am writing this it comes to mind.... Captain Adam Troy (played by Gardner McKay) and his ship, the Tiki and the series ..... Adventures in Paradise ...... Lordy, can one become immersed in this or what?
LOL

Since I bought the Goose shortly after it was released, I've been fascinated by the idea of watching the "Tales of the Gold Monkey" sometime.
Would you believe my local TV channel has just started broadcasting the show right today? I've been watching the pilot episode this noon, and I'm still drooling!!
Life is good sometimes, isn't it?
Happy flying,

I had a blast chasing the natives off of the rope bridge. ;D
That's fantastic that they are running the show again. Roddy McDowell came along after the pilot as I recall.
I bought the DVD's shortly after Bill released the Goose package and it is a fun show. You'll be amazed at all that Bill worked into his package. Lotsa fun.
