Lost gauges only view in 2D cockpit

Somehow, I've lost my 'gauges only' view, that is to say, in the 2D cockpit, as you press the w key, you cycle through the full instument panel, the gauges only, finally the unrestricted view of the oncoming scenery. No sure how. but when I push the "w" key, it goes straight from the instrument panel to the open scenery view.

I've checked the view options, can't seem to find anything there. I'm sure it can't be as a result of one of the Custom Classic installs, but any assistance would be appreciated.
