Gents, Ok, so Stephen Barstow created a wonderful Avro 504K, and we've had a repaint to match the Old Rhinebeck example. But... I need another repaint so when I post my pending article on the early history of Qantas airways. Any takers or helpful teachers? I know that there is a paintkit in Stephen's model but I'm confused as to how reapaint using it. I was/am hoping somebody out there has the time and skill to knock off the job. Appreciation goes without saying... Qantas took delivery of its first aircraft, an Avro 504K, registration G-AUBG, in January 1921. It was assembled in Sydney by Australian Aircraft and Engineering Company, agents for the AV Roe Company in England. The Avro, carrying two passengers in an open cockpit behind the pilot, was used with the BE2E for joy rides and air taxi services while promoting the advantages of air transport to thousands of potential customers. In its final years of service the Avro was used mainly for flying instruction and route familiarisation. It was sold to a Victorian businessman in November 1926.

Yep a fine plane. I can try that skin within this week. I had downloaded the paintkit some time ago, but found nothing "interesting"....now I have no excuses! but, isn't the engine a little different?
(Just tell me when you'll need it so I can manage my "paint agenda")

And your response is exactly why I call folks here GENTLEMEN!
Where else can one go and receive gracious and courteous support, friendship, and willingness to give.
I try to be supportive myself but as I'm not the most talented in modding FS files, I try offering new materials inresearch.
I agree that the engine may be different, but what the heck, it IS "make believe" right? I'd be happy just to have the paint scheme.
I don't know about you, but I prefer the lighter hunter green to the darker colors in the musuem piece ('though I suspect that the dark appearance has much to do with lighting).
No rush, I'm patient .

I don't know about you, but I prefer the lighter hunter green to the darker colors in the musuem piece ('though I suspect that the dark appearance has much to do with lighting).... It is actually as dark as the upper surface of the tailplane in that last shot , Kev. Almost what I'd call a traditional "British Racing Green" shade. Think Jaguars and Aston Martins of the 1950's/1960's at Le Mans and that is what I'm talking about. (NOT the Lotus green of the 1960's, which was lighter and a brighter shade). Regards, Bruce

That looks like the version with the Sunbeam Dyak (100hp) water-cooled engine. If it is, I have several photos of 504s fitted with it and also photos of the engine itself (all B&W, I'm afraid). I could scan some of them if they are of any help. Leyland
