A cool site. One of those treasures for us painters. Remember when you were a kid and went to the mall for the first time? well, I had that sensation when entered this site. All kind of samples to choose, from metal to grass, from mood to stone. www.accustudio.com/exchange/textures.php?dir=Go there and do your shopping...is for free!

Save your scans as usual bmps and then you'll be able to do what you want with them. That should work for FS9, not sure how FSX works yet.

wow, I just saw this post today. Windrunner, I know that feeling you speak of. There is a place, a store, in Second Life called Textures R Us, run by a British Lady. There are over 24,000 textures in the store. For me, as an architect in SL, this was like a kid in a candy store. It's like texture heaven there, and it covers a whole sim. A sim is 65536 meters squared. you can spend hours in that place.
When I get there this week I will take a screenshot of the TRU, and place it here for you to see. Excellent textures at the website you have provided.

That's a huge store! are those textures in bmp format? 2nd life has a lot of fans also here. Never been too much into this sort of games, but it's growing and growing.

Hi Damian, no, the textures in SL are *.tga, *.jpg, & just recently *.png . Z-bias is a really tough thing to work with in SL, but there are ways to get around it.
SL is great if you like interaction with others in a 3D world. I don't consider it a game, it is more of a simulation than anything. If you consider having FUN the goal, then maybe it is a game.
Give me a shout if you ever decide to attempt entrering Second Life. They have free accounts too.

Good Barb! that's what simulations are about. I think sometimes what a powerful way for communication the web is, something our grandparents could never imagine.
Fsim also has an online side, that allows you to fly with other virtual pilots from the whole world. Actually, virtual airlines are a real "second life" for many virtual pilots!
Thanks for the info!

Yah Damian, how well I know. I spent many a day flying online with my hubby, and his friends in multiplayer. I'm just not overly dedicated to FS these days, and my horizons have expanded. I still fly, otherwise, I wouldn't have bought FSX. I have been in FS since FSII, the Sublogic days. Besides, I make decent money in SL, enough to support my habit, and then some. I made L$80,000 (Linden Dollars; game money) in two months which converts to $269.71 USD at todays rate, and yes you can convert it to real money.
I never really made any money in FS. I guess I was to willing to share with others. Same thing goes in SL, but it cost $10USD/ month for membership to own land, then I have land use fees to pay that amount to L$9,000, or $31.47 USD/ month, so I need to make money in the game to support these things.
The key thing to any of these activities is having FUN.
