Being an ex trucker I've been all across the US in a big rig. Now that's just the part from I-40 south to the Mexican border out west, never got north of I-40 above New Mexico and Arizona. I've seen lots of great sights and some not so great... as in accidents and the poor begging in the streets in Nuevo Larado. I was even a carhauler and delivered new cars out of St. Therese QC all over the North East. Even up in Tom's neck of the woods... actually all over the state of Maine. Lovely scenery I might add and great lobsta dinners. Now if I were to guess, Tom lives somewhere near Bangor. I do miss Dysart's Truckstop and their great food.

I knew it. LOL I used to stay at what was the Holiday Inn downtown. But the White House Motel next to Dysart's was easier... and closer to good food. Yep, I miss their boiled ham dinner, oyster stew and chowda. We keep on about this I'll have to head over that way. LOL How's the airport, still there and boomin like it used to be? A couple of GM dealers were out near there that I delivered to. And the rental car agencies at the airport got full loads too. 1 stop one drop.

I hope that the ones here in the east that can, get to head over to Reading, Pa this year to MAAM's WWII Weekend in June. More info here on what will be there for a/c...... www.maam.orgThis will one of the best years ever just for a/c never seen here before. Great too for those returning. BTW.. the P-61 will be on wheels this year and outside for the first time since she was returned to the States. Not finished but at least on wheels.

Oh!
Well, this was mainly just judging Eastern and Western, but it grew to other things like over-seas.
I believe you are in Louisiana correct? Sounds like a great state, but how is the economy after the whole New Orleans disaster?
Ol' California is still puffin' out that smog, and making things a bit bumpy and gross in the air so I would hope that Louisiana has better conditions then this!

Well, the farther away you get from the city the better it gets. I live just outside in Jefferson (I live about 8 miles from the city) and everything is horrible here. Economy?? what economy? This city will never be the same again. It's finished as far as I can see. That's why I am moving further inland (about 100 miles northwest) to take in some higher elevation country life for the short time frame and planing a move to the northwest (Astoria) for the longer range plan. So I guess if I want to answer the poll from a future standpoint I can say west. I think what I will miss most about Louisiana is the people... Not the ones you hear about on the news (thats only a small % of the people here) but the friendly, helping fun-loving and caring people here. Makes me sad to go but I can't take the chance of another Major storm. All my budget can stand is one in a lifetime. Even after all settlements are in (insurance etc.) the average loss to a middle class homeowner is about $50,000. That's a nice chunk out of the old retirement fund. I won't let it happen again, that's for sure.
