I was flying my American Flyer Spartan (a nice livery !) over Iran when I heard in a row a Saudi captain annoucing HER 747 to Teheran Center and then an EL AL heavy doing the same
Saudi planes with women as captain and EL AL planes over Iran, isn't that a little visionary or what ;D ?

I just heard a female 747 captain calling in to Los Angeleas Tower and requesting landing clearance. At first it sounded a bit strange, but I figured that in real world aviation a woman can get in to the position of a 747 captain, just doesn't happen often does it (Or does it..lol)? Hehe. ;D

Live ATC.Hear female pilots quite often, more so in regionals, but their there in all types. (Though not as often as in the sim yet.) Dave

Last year flying from Jackson, WY to Salt Lake City on a Sky West CRJ-700 the Captain and First Officer were both beautiful young ladies (of course, at my 71 years of age young is a relative concept). Have had one or the other on previous flights, but this was a first for me having females in both seats up front. How times have changed over the last 20 years or so.

well, I can say that regularly flying liners I regretfully never heard a female voice in the "front office" except once in the US. Now, I can safely add that Saudi will not be the first airline to innovate. Flying a 747 in a burkha might be unsafe anyway .

.... but I figured that in real world aviation a woman can get in to the position of a 747 captain,.... QANTAS has several women pilots/first officers and has for quite a few years. One of the first airlines in the world to accept women in senior positions of responsibility on the flightdeck of commercial aircraft. Bruce

I think Dominique's point was that a female pilot on a Saudi airline and an El Al flight over Iran were NOT as real as it gets Recently I flew Southwest from Baltimore to Manchester, NH and the entire flight crew was female
