Contemporary art is a "mediation" between the individual and its psyche; it's not anymore the contemplation of hidden misteries or the representation of external reality, like it was since the middle ages untill the 20th century. Today's favourite expressions are mainly visuals. A few artists, former photographers, play and create with Photoshop and digital cameras. One of the most interesing (to my taste) is Alesandro Bavari. If you are curious to see what he is able to do with layers and immages, you can visit his site (www.alessandrobavari.com). Go to the gallery and prepare yourself to be amazed...for the good or the bad. In any case you'll not be indifferent.

I didn't understand the first part of what you said, but rather interesting yet odd drawings none the less.

Good point Runner I would add that the paint programs allowing layer manipulation are opening wide fields of creativity to most of us. I discovered it with FS9 doing screenshot edits and edit now pictures (my wife's for instance...) as well taken with my digital camera. It's a blast ! Easy as pie and so much fun (except that you can spend night on a pic). You don't need expensive Photoshop. I've an old version of PSP bought 5/6 years ago that I supplement with three freewares Picasa2, GIMP and Fastone Image viewer.
