MEMORY!
Last year i was broke so i bought an Emachine t3882 for about 300$. It came with 256mb of memory, so I purchased a 512mb stick the same day. It's got 2 slots for memory so i just stuck the new 512 in the empty slot.
I have played with 3 or 4 video cards in the last year or so and I finally settled on a GeForce 6200oc 256mb, yeah, it was only like 100$, not near the best but for the old "E" it was heaven sent. She has no AGP slot
so, FS9 running "good" looking better than ever tho. I install the demo and I was surprized to see that i could tweak it to 15 fps with most of the new stuff on. I wasnt expecting to see it that high from what i read.
but still... 15fps not a lot of fun no matter how desperate you are to be flying.
My wife's been off work all week sick and she is off next week too, so she's asking me for a PSP, those little handheld games, pretty cool by the way. Off to Best Buy i go with 2 weeks pay to blow.
I end up with 2 new sticks of 1 gig PC3200 RAM. WOW! i just hopped into FSX and where i was last night, and it was pegged on the Framerate Lock at 23.
I was able to crank the clouds up some and the water with little or no effect on the lock.
I also walked out with a new PSP and all the trimmings for the wife, ~~~I PREDICT~~~ I never get to play it once...
So my friends, if you have a few hundred bucks to spend, get your memory up to 2 gigs. It was expensive but the old "E" really needed this upgrade. I guess having the channels mismatched like i had it is not good. So some of my increase could be from that as well.
The "E"
2.8GHz Celeryon
256mb GeForce 6200oc
2 GB PC3200 Corsair memory
She's a FORCE to be reconed with I tell ya!!
time to play.
