Hello,
I installed GW3 into a fresh installation of FS9 per METHOD B instructions. Everything seems fine until I try and load a flight with weather. FS crashes when status bar reaches "Loading Weather."
GW3 runs fine if I create a flight with clear skies.
Any ideas about this? I'd like to be able to fly GW3 with clouds and wind.
Thank you,
Don

Hello Don, We had a couple instances of this in beta testing. I suspect it is a video card issue. Try copying the file cumulous01.bmp from the main texture folder in your modern fs2004 installation to replace the one in the GW main texture folder. Hopefully that will allow you to boot up ok with weather. Also try the GW weather themes to see if they work ok. Let us know if that works, Best, Bill

I'm running with Active Sky and real weather with no problem. Try to load one of Bill's weather themes. Or start with one of his pre-made flights

That does the trick - thank you.
I am also experiencing the black tarmacs at airports, so I copied the default taxiway bitmaps back into GW3 and now they are gray again. I have a Ge Force 4 video card with latest drivers. Not a big deal.
I was able to load three separate FS2004 installations from scratch; one for each era of flight: Golden Wings, 1950 through 1970 (using California Classics scenery & planes), and modern. They all work harmoniously and use their own config files. It was a tricky procedure, but worth it.
Thank you for this great package!
Don

Thanks, Tom.

I have the same problem as drich9. I've tried the cumulous01.bmp from my original Fs9 but I still get the ctd. This occurs with any flight, created or chosen. Any ideas please?

Hi Rog, Glad you got GW installed.. Make sure that the aircraft specified in your regular fs2004 default flight is also in your FSGW3 aircraft folder. That might be it. If not try replacing the file fair.wtb in weather/themes with the default one. Best, bill

Render to texture was the culprit. I have always had that turned off since some parts of aircraft come and go with it checked. I'll live with that to see the scenery!!! ;D

Thanks Bill, I always (well nearly always, lol) keep a backup of anything I change. Well all I can say is when are we supposed to go back to that other FS9? ;D...can't say I'll be visiting 2005 much now.
