GOFLIGT MODULES !!!! If you copy your GF*.DLLs to your FSGW3 install then the GoFlight Instruments work fine.

Hi all. Only just installed GW and did a quick test at midnight last night. Still trying to get my head around a few things. Are the problems above in general able to be fixed just editing your GW fields using AFCAD, and editing AI schedules with Traffic Tools? I'm hoping all my old favourite tweaking stuff still works! Glad to hear Misty Fiords is a goer. I'm planning to try Holger Sandmann's Northern Cascades also, always liked that addon. I'm hoping Ron Ezra's California Missions, which I think would look good, will fit (without the Lago FSE additions, which tend to be modern vehicles and people - possibly we could do our own FSE sound and people addons if we wished). Also, has anyone experimented with the California Central Coast package, particularly to trim down the out-of-period components and leave things like Morro Rock and the (1926-27) Hearst Castle? So many new things to play with!!! PS - EDIT - just put in my thoughts on the Emma Field problem, then saw the same answer on page 2. But - as I understood it (and my FSGW is working) we don't rename FS9.exe - just any shortcut we create. Has anyone with the installation problems renamed it? Never tried it - I read the GW installation instructions as "rename the shortcut to FS9.exe" only, but not the file itself. If GW works with a renamed EXE file, from experience with past versions of FS, self-installers often look for the main exe file by its default name.

Renaming the FS9.exe to FSGW.exe allows you to have a FSGW.cfg along with FS9.cfg That allows you to have different startup flights and to adjust various things for each version of FS independently. I personally consider that to be one of the most important parts of the setup procedure. I will not have any conflicts with the Georenders or Emma because they will not be in my Golden Wings. They are all loaded with modern convewniences and vehicles and do not fit in the 30's Please report on any successes you have with any other 3rd party scenery. I don't have time to check them I'm afraid. One of the beautiful things about Flightsim is its ability to be something great to so many people. Have fun with your tweaking and stuff but please understand we can only support orthodox installations. Our editorial philosophy is, if something doesn't work with Golden Wings, don't use it. That being said, your moderator team and many of the regulars are long time simmers and tinkerers. One small request, please read the announcements

Tom, that made a penny drop. My regular FS9 still uses the default startup flight, and when I first ran GW I got an error message about the Cessna being missing. I'd take it, from what you just posted, that because I overlooked renaming "fs9.exe", it was referring to the default fs9.cfg, rather than the renamed FSGW3.cfg. This might also answer a similar query on another thread where I think someone had a problem with GW not finding the default Boeing 737. Tom, let me take the opportunity to thank you for the "Quick & Dirty" scenery tutes - they look like even I could follow them!

Ahhh, the c172 should not be removed from FSGW for that reason. If you review the list of aircraft to be removed, you'll see it isn't included.
Thanks for the kind words about Q&D, its a work in progress and I'll be updating it over the coming months.

Back to the first post in this thread, I've been playing with some sceneries to see what was compatible. Moving across the Atlantic, I checked London - which looks good, didn't notice any grossly out-of-period scenery in the city so far, though the airports are still modern. Tested a number of sceneries - some from FS2002 - with a fair degree of success. Most pleasing was the fs2004 set for the Schneider Trophy races, which places pylons, period ships and other scenery items around Calshot and the Isle of Wight, as well as providing some nice race aircraft (at www.transglobalaircraft.co.uk/index2.html and click the "Schneider" tab). I also found that Keith Hackett's FS2002 Sussex sceneries - which add some nice piers, a couple of castles and other landmarks to the south coast of UK - worked perfectly well in GW3. John McKeon has also done some piers for FS2004, and you can mix and match files if you like. Keith's piers include, I think, the old Brighton pier in damaged state after a more recent storm, but it's scenery. I was a little disappointed with the " Vintage London Airports", also by John McKeon (vla.zip at AVSIM, also has a patch). Brooklands, Croydon, and Hendon seemed perfect candidates, but I got a strange grass pattern with criss-crossing black lines adjacent to the main buildings. I presume it's my Golden Age-vintage graphics card. BTW copied my AFCADs over from my basic FS9 install, and will need to make some AI traffic, assuming I can get the grass landscaped. It's not devastating but it's a bit ugly. I installed, but have not so far checked, Gerry Winskill's intriguingly named " Satanic Mills", which I hope will add some soot-spewing early factories to the UK. Back in the USA, Eagle Field (part of Dave Eckert's Stearman package) is perfectly good. I'm also grabbing all the various lighthouse packages, e.g. Brian Smith's historic lighthouses of the Pacific Northwest, but have not looked at them yet. I figure these are a VFR addon appropriate to the period. Has anyone yet looked at the California Central Coast package or Ron Ezra's California Missions? EDIT - Tried the California Missions, omitting the Lago FSE addons. They work fine, though there are still some static modern vehicles apart from Lago, Also Ron Ezra's FS02 sceneries work as well - his stone arches in UTAH and his Death Valley sceneries - e.g. Scotty's Castle. Don't know if it's in period but it looks architecturally consistent with rich folk's mansions of the time. Looks like there are goodies out there. But I suspect I'm going to have to study Tom's "quick and dirty" scenery tutes and hang around here a lot ...
