8-)Hi, troops...the old Sarge needs help. I have begun the installation of GW3 on a separate hard drive, free from any other program. I have gotten down to Step 7B of the install instructions and have hit a road block. No where in any of my searches have I been able to find a fs9.cfg file. I have tried my Documents and Settings but nothing shows up. Can someone point me in the right direction? Is the file small enough that it can be emailed to me? jcallahan@inu.net.
Thanks, Jesse

Fs9.cfg is in a "hidden" file on Windows XP. It can be located by using the search function and enable "look in hidden folders" mode.

It's in a hidden file, so start off by setting your system to view all folders. Then it's in Documents and Settings / User (I think - mine's a Spanish keyboard, so I'm translating here from Proprietario) / Program Data / Microsoft / FS9

Tom, I'm just about at my wits end. I went to the search facility and entered the 'fs9.cfg' in the "all or part of the file name" block. I also ensured that the search was to look in the hidden files section also. After the search was completed, it told me that the file could not be located. It looks like I may have a corrupted FS2004 installed and I may have to do a complete new install. I also noted that I don't have a 'Documents and Settings/User/Application Data/MicrosoftFS9 folder.' This could be a major problem. Jesse

Let me try here -- a question... I used the "B" method... creating a seperate new flightsim... followed the instructions... it starts up...but then I get the cursed initalization failure... it is still looking for the Cessna 172 .... Now I think I could just restore it...haven't clean my recycle bin yet... start it up...see if it works... create a new default with a vintage aircraft and then dum the cessna.. but I think there is a perfered method... What do I need to change to ge into the new old time version...

Also, change your startup away from SeaTac because there is no airport there in FSGW

A question on "changing startup" you mentioned. I'm guessing (again!) that changing the startup airport, in FSGW will not affect my original FS9 install due to different cfg's? Also, what I need to do is move to an airfield which is in FSGW and then make that the "default", correct?
If so, where do I find a list of airfields or will only appropriate FSGW fields show up when "creat a Flight" is chosen?

Boeing will work just fine...but thanks for the link! Sea-Tac "default" is inside a farmhouse, I think (Cool!) so I will move my default to Boeing with a 172.
FSNavigator question upcoming and that SHOULD about handle any questions I have for now.
Thanks for the help, Tom!
