When I try to run Golden Wings I get an error and th program ends abruptly. I don't get past the Splash Screen. Error: Aircraft initialisation error Boeing 747-400 error
The only option given is close which ends the program. Now I followed the install instructions to the letterhead, and I know there is no Boeing 747 folder in the aircraft folder. The default plane for my regular FS9 is the PMDG 747, but that's in a different folder.

Does your start up flight use the 747?

The problem is your startup flight. FSGW is looking for the PMDG 747. Go into your default FS9 and make the startup flight into something that exists in both sims.
Another option you can try is to go into FSGW\flights\Golden Wings and double click on one of the flights

Hi wrayer, I too had that problem. After CAREFULLY using method "B",all seemed OK .deleted all modern aircraft ,after uninstalling the delete list.Checked all the steps required, all 8 of them,no problem anywhere, the instuructions clear. The C-172from Flight 1, was the inquiry of the error.Like you, its no where to be found in the installed FSGW3.Checked all, folders in the fully installed FSGW3. The air craft folder had only the airplanes I copied to it. I could not find this "Bleed over" any where. Sooo! I deleted the thing, no effect on the primary FS9.Will try again, practice makes perfect, and this time I'll have my grand son assist. VIN "HAVING FUN" VIN

The problem is caused when the fs9.cfg is copied and renamed to fsgw.cfg and the startup flight in the cfg calls a plane that is not in FSGW. Easiest solution is a default flight that involves an aircraft and airport that exists in both sims. In my case the default flight is in Bill's Classic Cub at KBGR and is that way in both FS9 and FSGW.

Thank you Mr. Constantine, what you say sounds loglical.See your up late also, However in my start up,the airplane is the Dreamfleet archer, and not the C-172? Nevertheless, I will make a new startup, doing what you advise. Thank you VIN

Thank you VIN Installing the Dreamfleet Archer into FSGW would also solve the problem but might not be as pretty Once you get both sims working you can adjust each with different flights but initially they are the same. Up Late??? Me??? I was watching the Nascar race with one eye. Just 12:22 am here Now I'm off...

Thanks Tom, that was the cure. I should have known that! I changed my default startup to a vintage plane (the Ford tri-motor) and it worked great! The ATC is still modern, but the landscape and the old vintage planes are great. Bill Lyons, I love you! (well, not physically - yipes!)

Hi Wrayer, Glad our relationship is platonic Try turning off the ATC under sounds and you'll never miss it as there was none in the 1930s. Have fun flying like they did without all the modern nav aids.
