First many thanks to the Golden Wings team for bringing us this great concept. Looking forward to many hours flying in the Golden Age era.
I have installed FSGW3 according to the instructions which were simple and straightforward. However, when loading I can't get past the "loading weather" without getting the error message that it encountered a problem and will close. Everything seems to be OK with the installation but it stops loading when it reaches 77% and starts to load weather, then stops as described above.
Anyone got any suggestions? I will admit that I am computer semi-literate and have run out of ideas on what could be the cause. Hopefully one of you may have some thoughts on what I may have done wrong.
Thanks for your consideration.
Bruce

Had the same problem. Do you have 'Render to texture' checked under display/hardware settings? If not turn it on.

Thanks much, Roger. That did the trick. Wouldn't have had a clue without your help.

Hi all - been awaiting GW3 ever since it was announced. However, I have the same problem as above - stops like it hit a brick wall at 77% when loading weather. I then found this thread, turned on "Render to texture", and still have the same thing, a dead stop at 77%. Followed the "Plan B" loading instructions (fresh second install), then installed the FS9.1 patch, then installed FSGW3, renamed the fs9.exe and .cfg files as instructed etc. Uninstalled some other stuff to allow plenty of room. Is there another answer to this problem?

Hello John, It could be that your card doesn't like the very small frame rate friendly cloud texture. Try replacing the file, cumulous01.bmp in your main fsgw3 texture folder with the default one from your normal fs2004 installation. That might do it, Best, Bill

Bill - You can't hide genius! That fixed it - I do have an old graphics card! Thanks for that - on top of all you've done over the years to make my sim worlds fun!
