I want to put a rotating light on a lighthouse, does anyone know if there's a suitable rotating beacon light available?

Leon put one in his Montreal scenery. He used Airport for Windows so it would have been an API macro. I believe he remade the texture to give it a bigger visible beam. He likely found the original at Frank's Hangar www.flightsimsetc.dhs.org/index.php or Avsim,

An easier way to do it would be to download Scruffyduck's Scenery Maker tool (The one you are using for effects) and then use the Beacon option.
Set the altitude and Water/Land type beacon and you should be good to go.

Froggy,
What program did you design you lighthouse in? With Gmax you can attach the effect and beacon to an object and the make it rotate with animation. If you have seen my Great River Race, there is a carosel which rotates, same principle, different object.

Yes scenery maker can do it but it will place a normal airport beacon which is not really a lighthouse!

Thanks fella's, I've used your Scenery Maker Jon, but as you say it's an airport beacon. However, if it's possible to scale it up it may do the job. Is that possible? Mocat - thanks, but you're still way ahead of me with Gmax.

Mocat, could you give a brief description of this procedure? I am doing a scenery for a local airport and their beacon consists of two spotlights on a rotating arm on top of a telephone pole! I have all the G-max models done but could not figure out how to make it rotate. So for now, I have the MS beacon mounted. Works, but is way too big! G-max is such a neat program - you learn a whole new language while trying to figure it out. Thanks for your time, and also, THANKS for the great scenery! Later, Fred Z.

There is not a scale parameter in the XML so I guess you are stuck with the size given
