Hello All! Last Night at about 10:30 p.m., Bookman and I were conversing about different sceneries in FS9 and GW3. I volunteered to build the Perry International Peace Monument located on Bass Island, Ohio. Well, a half hour this morning and 45 minutes on my lunch hour and the model is built and textured with flashing light. I have to work on the effect and night textured this evening. Last, I have to place the scenery and build the land class, but that won't take to long. I'm waiting on Bookman to advise, if he wants the scenery for FS9 or GW3? Here's some screen shots showing the textured model in Gmax for Book man and any or all that are interested. Bookman is going to test, he didn't know it, but he is........ Here's the shots..... Known problem....the light is supposed to flash on for 3 seconds and off for three seconds, about the best I can do is on for 4.5; off for 4.5. I created custom effect lights for this structure. Hope you enjoy, should be out soon. MoCat

Mocat, have you found a way to slow down time around you? ? I do not understand how you cac be so fast and still make such neat stuff! You also seem to have a handle on lighting effects. I still don't have a clue how to do that. Thanks for you efforts. Later, Fred Z scenery designer in training

Fred,
Don't think of structures as complicated objects. They are simple objects. If you read the tutorial on making the Fort Mc Henry wall, that what I did for the base and the upper box. The center part is a cone, the Urn (lighthouse top) is just a box, four rectangles and a tube. The doors at the top are boleened (cookie cutter) and the hallway in the cone is boleened. The steps were a box the arrayed in so much up so much back.
Don't think to much about the design. There are two rules.......
1. KISS - Keep it simple, stupid.
and
2. Yochims' Razor - The most simplest solution is usually the correct one!
Wit that in mind, design on.

Mocat, Heard of KISS, know it well. The second one makes sense as well. Spent most of my working life as a mechanical designer - just have to get back in that kind of mind set. BTW, have you ever heard of this Mil Spec? MIL-T-FD/41 [make it like the foolish drawing, for once!] ;D Later, Fred Z.

Hey Mr. FredZ,
I was an investigator for 17 years, Military, State Dept., Insurance Co., and Private, I didn't make anything. Now, I work at a car dealership and am on cruise control. Still don't make anything, just responsible for getting it fixed when it's broke, wrecked, or needs parts.....

Can't guess how many hundreds (or thousands) of times I've flown across that monument, never getting closer than 11,000' (vertically). I'll be proud to add that to all four of my FS/GW installs. Thanks.

That's very nice Chris. Time to find some historical background about this monument (I'm afraid I know nothing about it).
I like the peer.

Short and Simpley, no Mr. Bushpounder! I've been working on the 1931 National Air Tour since before Christmas and down to the last 7 Airfields. After that, I going to do a Maine scenery environment...with a fictional base called "Old Hangar Field". Perry's Monument was just something that was short & sweet, took a couple of hours.....I don't think it's even listed in the downloads, but if you'd like it here's a link..... www.theoldhangar.com/Perry_Monument.zip
