Hi Bruce:
That old hfdf gauge works just fine in fs9/gw3! I got all the stations fixed up. A couple of more tweaks and I'll have something ready to upload. Should be this weekend.
And thanks very much to everyone for your help. I really appreciate this forum and all of you folks in it.
Stephen

Is it "tweakable", by an chance? That is, can it be used in any area and in any aircraft? I was thinking that it would be excellent for simulating navigation by "homing in" to commercial radio stations of the 1920's/1930's. I have (or had....I'll have to check the archives) a pretty comprehensive list of North American stations that existed in those times. Bruce

Hi Bruce:
That old gauge is fakeadf.gau. It contains a small database of 20 preset stations. The original release package includes a utility, 'hfadf.exe' that lets you change the stations to whatever you wish.
The full package is zipped up inside 'clippan2.zip' still available from flightsim. Inside clippan2.zip you will find hfadf.zip, which is your gauge. Have fun!
-------- Hfadf.exe needs a dll to work: VBRUN300.DLL, which contains the Visual Basic 3.0 runtime libraries. If you google by the dll name, you'll get a nice link right to Microsoft, along with the usual dreck.
I stuck the dll into \WINDOWS\system32\ on my xp machine and hfadf.exe fired right up.
The original gauge was done by Chuck Dome. Tom Gibson was also involved. Its a very nice little thing. Thanks again for pointing it out to me. ------- I'm pretty much done - got the gauge working and nicely placed on the Martin vc and panel. I'm going to package it up together with some ramblings on the Pan Am hf/df stations and the nice set of approach charts from that fs2000 Clipper package. I'll include the original zip for the gauge as well. This weekend.

Heads up -- this gauge won't work if you have the 64 bit version of XP or Vista.
