FS2004 Saunders-Roe SR45 Name: prncssds.zip Size: 7,259,109 Date: 01-22-2006 FS2004 Saunders-Roe SR45. The beautiful Saunders-Roe SR45 Princess was to be a post-WWII long-range flying boat. Alas, evolving technology (and bureaucratic bungling) kept it from being successful. This version was built with Gmax. Sound, non-default gauges and startup files are included. By Dennis Simanaitis. -- FS2004 Tupolev ANT-20 Maksim Gorkii Name: maksimds.zip Size: 6,660,302 Date: 01-22-2006 FS2004 Tupolev ANT-20 "Maksim Gorkii", a 1934 flying propaganda machine for the U.S.S.R. She had a radio station, film studio, printing press and a traveling light-show. This Gmax version is for FS2004. It contains all necessary gauges, a start-up locale and even a bit of Soviet Realism art. By Dennis Simanaitis. -- FS2004 Abrams Explorer Name: abramsds.zip Size: 1,320,637 Date: 01-22-2006 FS2004 Abrams Explorer, circa 1939, was designed for a single purpose: aerial photography. Thus, its wonderfully open glass cabin. This virtual version has lots of Gmax features and a great view. By Dennis Simanaitis.

I was surprised and glad to finally see a Saunders-Roe SR45 Princess. You fly this airplane from the right seat. It's really fast. I looked at the airspeed and saw 345 knots at one point.

Hi, All, A fellow flight simmer has shared much improved flight dynamics with me. Mine were essentially left-over Spruce Goose mated with Brabazon. (Agg! Poor choice of metaphor.) In particular, in the .air file, it changes flap lift from 0.05 to 0.50, which allows a change back to real weight (190,000 empty/330,000 gross) and a flap-down liftoff at reasonable velocity. I've asked his permission to share other tweaks he plans. If granted, I'll upload them all. Oh, and another goof of mine: I thought I had MIP-free textures, but not so. This explains the zoom-fixable blur. Making them truly non-MIP fixes the occasional initial blur. Possibly to come from fellow simmers: an AI version, one in full BOAC livery and maybe one in QANTAS. All in good fun. Dennis S

Hello, Roger, I'm a regular viewer and finally had something sensible to say... Obviously The Old Hangar is where my aeroplanes feel most comfortable. -- Dennis

Hello Dennis! It's always a red-letter day for me when I see one (or in this case, three) of your creations released. Thanks!! Is there any possibility that some day we may see the return of your AVRO 'F'? I had loads of fun flying her in FS5. Brian

Hello, Brian, Actually, my Gmax projects all seem to be redos of earlier efforts, and often it's a fellow simmer who jogs me into action. The Avro F Type, eh? This would be a great Gmax project as I could almost build her from scratch and cover her in semi-translucent fabric. Since that FS5 model (gad, was it that long ago??), I've come on a book with a few more photos of her and lots of details I didn't have the first time around. Thanks for your kind words (and for the jog). At the moment I'm perhaps 4/5 through a Dayton Wright RB-1. I was thinking of a De Havilland DH4 as next, but.... Cordially, Dennis

Hi, Dennis! Boy, oh boy! I'm very glad to see another buddy on here that I already know. I have always enjoyed flying your planes, and am looking forward to these three, as well. I am back doing scenery again, starting with PAA routes to Caribbean and South America. Good progress so far. Del.

Hi, Del, Glad to hear you're back at it as well. I look forward to your fine scenery additions. Actually I have some correx for the Saunders-Roe Princess suggested by a kind fellow simmer. I'll upload them to Flightsim.com later today. Essentially I thought it was MIP-free; but it wasn't. Also he found a neat way to achieve breakaway from the water at a decent velocity. By the way, the Avro Type F is coming along fine. I had plans for semi-transparent fabric but forgot Gmax's/FS's dislike of handing two separate transparencies. To the best of my ken, they conflict. So I'm keeping the glass (of course) but scrapping the see-through wings. Still a sweet old crate. I wrote an English RC modeler magazine that ran a piece on the Type F. I hope they respond with a back issue, as it may tell where A.V. sat in the plane. I have several photos, but none with anyone aboard. All in good fun. Dennis
