These are very nice C-46 models especially the Air Force and Alaskan Airlines versions - they both fit very well in GW3. ;D Good looking aluminum textures - seems anything with aluminum skins and the 'Reflections' program looks great these days - even though Bill Lyons produced a number of absolutely outstanding aluminum textures for the Sikorsky S43 and the Ryan a couple of decades ago and you didn't need an additional program to see them clearly. Guess the rest of the world is just catching up - - Anyway, this C-46 is very well done! I need do something about those props though. Also, does anyone know of a manual or even a spec sheet with the flying guidelines for this plane, as well as any others of that era that can provide correct flying attitudes, procedures, settings (manifold pressure, rate of climb . . . ), etc. A good overall book or website would be great to research. Thanks for the HU Kofi and to those that produced it - flew it for a couple of hours last night and enjoyed it - - Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Nice aircraft... although I wish it had a VC. BUT, nonetheless, it is a pretty looking aircraft, and nice to fly. I don't know anything about MP Rate of Climb ETC for this; I just keep all the gauges in the green. Jim

I just happen to read a story involving a C-46 (aka: "The Plumber's Nightmare") going over the Hump... (loaded:) 145 mph climbing speed @ 300 fpm, Cruise 180 mph.

I looked briefly today through some web resources and even called my friend down at the Wright Patterson AFB Technical Library for a flight manual (he didn't have one btw). Although I was unable to "quickly" find anything free, I do have the following web resources that offer complete flight manuals and data manuals for sale: www.eflightmanuals.com/detail/itemList.asp?page=2&cID=6Not bad, for only $17 Also, you might try: www.esscoaircraft.com/Curtiss_Wright_C_46_Series_s/8937.htmBasically, the same deal. I hope this helps. And, if my friend Paul calls me about finding the manual in his library, I'll let you know. I asked him to photocopy checklists if he finds it. The Curtiss C-46 is probably my least favorite aircraft btw, lol, too d**ned ugly! Heh, but to each his own. Good Luck. KB

Thanks Kevin, -E, & Jim! I'll look into those Websites and that story - sounds interesting! I agree, the C-46 always did look ugly - until this new release - with the polished aluminum textures - as noted, both the USAF & Alaskan Airlines look incredible - all shined up - does justice to the plane. It has got my attention now since I spent most of last night finding another sound file that didn't 'loop' and another panel - still looking for a better 'spinning' prop texture. Then, in the process of messing with the sound, I noticed how great the sound was when the I pulled back the RPMs and the prop pitch - therefore questions starting arising as to the 'true' specs and flight procedures for take off, climbing, cruising, etc. etc. for this plane - not that the sound file has anything to do with these - - Any news from your friend would be great. I went through the AF museum there a couple of years ago - during the 100th anniversary show - incredible place naturally never enough time to see it all - I've got to get back there . . . Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Downloaded and installed the C-46. Nice addition to my FSSW. However, most of the gauges are missing on the panel. Haven't had this happen before. Any thoughts?

To get the gauges working in the C46, you need to go to your aircraft folder, and open the Douglas_DC3 folder. Then, open the Panel folder and COPY the Douglas_DC3.cab into your MAIN gauges folder. You should then have the gauges show up. I wish he put that in the read me.
