I saw that post at AVSIM and it was very informative. In preparation for FSX I increased my memory to 2g and replaced my video card with one that has 256m memory. Those changes have greatly improved my FS9 performance but only marginally improved the performance of the FSX demo 2. My problem for FSX is going to be CPU power, as I only have a P4 2.53ghz internal processor and 533mz external with L1 Cache of 8kb and L2 cache of 512kb. I am going to by FSX this weekend an start playing with it but FS9 will be my primary Flight Sim until I can upgrade my computer which won't be for a couple of years.

My problem for FSX is going to be CPU power, as I only have a P4 2.53ghz That rig should be adequate to give you a reasonable flying experience in FSX. You will not be able to max sliders but that is a normal thing with today's equipment. I think it'll be 2 years before that will happen. I am running it on an off the rack eMachine T6420 Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2GHz) with a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 930B (Digital) on nVidia GeForce 7600GS at 1280x1024. The hard drive is ATA 200 Gb. I have 2 gb DDR SDRAM Dual Channel. Not high end equipment by any means and yet I am content with the results I have so far. I have fluid motion especially in the Eastern Maine area where I fly. FPS does drop at KBGR but it does not cripple the sim. I have also been trying various tweaks as they are posted. FS9 is still ajoy to fly but FSX isn't bad.
