Hi Gang,
I have been procrastinating buying FSX. I wasn't too certain my machine would be able to handle the full program, so I downloaded/installed FSX Demo. I am curious, does the overall performance change from FSX Demo to FSX?
The FSX Demo is performing fairly decent on my machine with most of the sliders at 3/4, and ATC running. I don't want to get into a debate on FS9 vs FSX, but I would like to know if any of you have experienced a drop in overall performance between the Demo, and the Full install?
Actually, the FSX Demo is pretty clean with my machine, but I am experiencing a slight jerky screen performance(FPS). Let me also say that my install of FS9 is a really smooth running install, but is very basic, only FSGenesis US textures installed. I like to fly the US, and Africa, maybe some Alaskan areas too.
I will be waiting your responses, and this will determine whether I purchase FSX, or not.
HUGS... Barb

Barb- My FSX system is an off the rack eMachine Athlon 64 3400+ ($500) I added 1 Gb RAM to bring it to 2 Gb total (Essential for avoiding stutters in FSX) and added an nVidia 7600GS/256Mb PCI-e video card. I did not try the demo since I was on the beta team but I will say that I have a decent flying experience with fairly high settings as long as I stay away from BIG airports. I have my frames locked at 20 and get 20 most of the time. This is without many of the tweaks that have been published so far.

*giggles*..... Well, I am certainly not in the market for a new machine no matter what the manufacturers think. My rig is a 2.4Ghz PIV; 1Gb DDRam; ATI 9200 256Mb PCI video card, DirectX 9.0c compatable; and I am running two monitors, one on the ATI card, and the other on the hardwired Intel 82845 card. The Demo program is actually awesome even when I get things trimmed down to make it run smoother (18fps, if you can rely on the FPS Indicator), but then I am not really picky.
From what I have seen though, I think I will save my coins, and purchase FSX. I think they could have given you a bit more time with the demo, but no biggy, I saw what I need to, and I will advanced to the next version. Sounds like great fun, and maybe I will actually be able to create something usable in FSX for more than just myself, and friends.
HUGS...... Barb

You should be able to enjoy FSX on that rig Barb. The only shortcoming I can see is the RAM. FSX really runs smoothly with 2 Gb.
