I moved the Carenado Piper Cherokee 180 over to FSX and tried it out on a flight from Carlsbad, New Mexico to El Paso, Texas. It flies and looks good in FSX in fact the whole flight was smooth. Guadalupe Mountains - not too bad. And neither is this one. This shot is terrible, it looks like someone dumped sand all over the mountains. The Guadalupe's are very rugged and are not covered by sand. And there should be vegetation as shown in the first two shots. T27 Horizon Airport in El Paso. But where is El Paso? and where is the vegetation. It may be arid out there but there still a lot vegetation there. Decent looking airport. Why do I keep torturing myself.

Texas is a good place to try out the desert looking textures that swamp FS-X's landscape. Maybe you should turn up your autogen some more. I can't because my computer decides to put on a power point presentation when I try to... ;D The huge "desert" mistake in FS-X is unavoidable, it's around many popular areas, but try going somewhere green and mountainous and behold the new autogen and landclass there. Oregon is a good place to start, I was surprised that it wasn't a desert.
