...some people are forcing themselves to like FSX? (I know it's controversal but I can't but help feel this at times...)

Yeah you're probably right Kofi I think I probably did the same thing with Fs9 when I'd got Fs8 just the way I wanted it and found that lots of planes I liked wouldn't port over and you know how much I like my "water"...well it took a couple of years and Bill Lyons to get Fs9's water as good as I'd got it in Fs8. I was heavily involved in the fs forums at the SOH then and felt it incumbent on me to lead the way over to Fs9. I don't feel that way now, especially with GW3 for Fs9. Some threads I've seen on FsX in other forums remind me of the 'Emporer's new clothes' story ;D

Ask the average Mercedes owner how reliable the car is and he will say, its "perfect". However he will also conveniently ignore the fact that he spent the equivalent of a house simply for the privilege of having a car that spends half its life in the shop. ;D

I think "The Emperor's New Clothes" is an apt description. Sure, there are improvements, but they are not worth the cost in good working features that the development team intentionally broke. Frankly, there are many things I wish I could say. Many people I would like to quote. I can't because the private beta testers forums are still (and always) covered by the NDA. I won't break that publicly for many reasons.
Until Microsoft give us back the Flights system fully intact as in FS9, until Microsoft give us a multiplayer system that works and does not require the Worse than Zone-like kiddie-infested locked up Gamespy CRAP they call multi-player, until Microsoft fix the hundreds of bugs they introduced AFTER beta 3, until Microsoft restores the "cut from RTM" features they had working in the betas, until Microsoft give us all the features they have buried deep in the kiddie game so-called mission system so they can be used as promised in free-flight and until the development team stops using the term "sandbox" and promises NEVER to use it again, this half finished, bloated piece of game masquerading as a flight simulator will leave a sour taste in my mouth every time I start it up.
Stop the smoke and mirrors about frame rates Aces! That's NOT the issue here. Finish the sim! Complete the systems, optimize the code. Make something out of it besides the cash cow you are milking.

Yep, there's something definitely different about this version of FS compared to the others. This one seems to have really polarized the community. Personally, I like many of the new features, but the game itself just doesn't "draw me in" like the other versions have in the past. I think Tom puts it well when he describes the game as half-finished. Maybe I'll enjoy it more when it is finished. Right now I can go for days without even launching the thing...I guess I'm just too busy still loving FS9. ;D Brian

Force myself to like a slide show?
No way! I have been flying in FS9 the last few times I decided to fly, I think the fact that I have to wait 10 minutes for the game to load only to be reduced to 5 FPS and a patience of... wait... no patience at all... because I quit and started up FS9! ;D
