Well, today I put my money where my mouth is. A few weeks ago I messed up my GWX copy that I'd kept on SP1 and I'd got so annoyed with the stupidity of SP2/Acceleration because of all the problems it has created in my main FSX that I decided to reinstall and revert everything back to SP1.
Magnificent! I had forgotten how much I'd lost by going to SP2 in my main FSX. I've now got back lots of lovely FS9 aircraft with negligible problems - all ones that I'd lost because of the stupid VC transparency problems that SP2 created. I've got my Zlins and my Beech Debonair and I'll have my Tobago too.
Ohh and I'm so disappointed - not. The 3 aircraft that came with Acceleration don't seem to work properly in SP1. I'm sure I'll shed quite a few tears over that.
SP2/Acceleration - good for the kiddies who think farting around in the FA-18 is what it's all about, but for me, and I suspect for quite a few others, a major non-event and a complete waste of money with infinitely more lost than gained.
Still now I'm on the way to getting lots of my much loved FS9 aircraft into FSX that came to a grinding halt when I was foolish enough to install Acceleration.
My FS is now getting back on track - and what a relief too.
Edit added....
There's logic to my madness and for those who don't know maybe I'd better explain.
SP2 is geared to DX10. DX10 (which looks like another MS disaster right now IMO) can only be run in Vista. Ahhh.... Vista - what can we say. The forgotten operating system maybe? I deinstalled Vista some while ago and reverted to XP and - ahem - currently have no plans (like the majority of the World and his brother) to move back to Vista. So DX10 is out of the window for me (breathes sigh of relief) so there's no need for SP2. So I go back to SP1 and - hooray - I get most all of my lovely FS9 planes back - no prop problems, no VC problems. I can live with that
