A few shots of some of my favourite aircraft that had issues with SP2 and that I'm now enjoying again after reverting to SP1
D'you know, the Hurri alone was worth it, let alone the 748 and the Meteor and....and....
Look, I'm not saying 'Don't go to SP2' - I am saying if you do, keep a copy of FSX SP1 on your hard drive as well. If you don't you'll only be able to fly planes like these in FS9/GW3 - which is not too much of a hardship I know - but it's great to be able to enjoy them in FSX with its great ground and water textures to name just two attractions. And you won't be able to if you ditch SP1.
Since reverting I've found that SP2/DX10 has come in for a bit of stick on various forums, which I didn't know about. It looks as though MS got the timing wrong - again. If backwards compatability had been lost from the beginning with FSX then maybe more of us could have accepted it. But to do it half way through the life of the product was probably a bit crazy. And just for DX10 which still isn't here yet (correct me if I'm wrong) and which probably half of the people with FSX won't get the benefit of anyway because like me they'll be staying with XP. Do I need cockpit shadows? I don't think so, not with my rig - I've even got light bloom off to save FPS. I think a lot of people feel the same as well.
Now FS11, when the bugs have been sorted and it'll be worth upgrading to an even more beefy machine, then that'll be different. But until then I'll probably just stick with FSX SP1 - and get back to enjoying my flightsimming again and not spending more than half of my time trying to get the aircraft I like and which will probably never be replaced with new models, in a fit state to fly.
BTW - I don't want to start any arguments and I know that not everyone will agree with me. But I justed wanted to express my point of view and tell anyone interested about the conclusions that my experiences have led me to.
