Finally, and for the record - Martha's Airmail letter was delivered in New York yesterday morning - and she was thrilled!! and I'm worn out, but cool.
As noted in another thread, I took off in a Jenny from San Francisco about a week and half ago on an early airmail journey across the U.S. following all of the stops noted in Bill and Phil's 1921 Airmail Route package and of course, GW3.
I used three planes - initially the default Jenny, then switched to the Golden Age Simulations WACO CTO Mailwing, then their new Stearman Model 4 Speedmail, and then in Iowa City I switched to Bill and Phil's US Mail painted Jenny with a new config file from Jim of Jimslost - which really helped with the speed of the Jenny.
I flew the Jenny from Iowa City all the way to Republic, New York (KFRG) - and that is one long long long run in the Jenny. Especially, since one really has to fly it - by hand - allllllll the way. I think I fell asleep only once - almost ended up in Miami.
Anyway, it was great to see the 'entire' U.S. from coast to coast. Amazing how the actual terrain of certain parts of the country are not what you had thought they were all these years - - seems I was not paying attention to my grade school geography teacher - -
I must say, even though tiring at times - it was a lot of fun! ;D Flew through all types of weather and all of the times of the day - from dawn to dusk and night as well. I found it was great to look for those beacons off in the distance - GW3's atmosphere is outstanding for this - it really puts you right there - - -
I would've taken and posted some shots, but the d**n Kodak I bought at a 5 & 10 store in Sacramento didn't work - I should've got the 10 cent version!!
I'm now going to take a break and fly ajet - or something - and then I'm going back the other way - West - to return the Kodak and see what I can see from the other side - will probably take the Ford Trimotor, the Stinson Reliant, both of which were used for Airmail and any other airmail plane I can find for that era.
Thanks to Bill & Phil for your great Airmail Package and Jim for your excellent Jenny Config file, Golden Age Simulations for your great airmail Waco and Stearman and Bill Lyons for GW3!!!!

…it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D
