When I last flew this flight I had reached Vincennes, Indiana and was getting ready to follow the Wabash River south.
I followed the Wabash south to where it empties into the Ohio River and I followed the Ohio to Paducah, Kentucky. At Paducah I pickup a rail road line and followed it south through western Kentucky and western Tennessee to Dyersburg Tennessee. At Dyersburg I flew west to the Mississippi River and down to Blytheville, Arkansas to refuel. Leaving Blytheville I followed the Mississippi to Osceola, Arkansas where I was suppose to pick up a rail road line heading southwest but I didn’t see it so I followed the Mississippi down to Memphis where I picked up Interstate 40 flew to Brinkley, Arkansas for the end of Day 2.
Day 3 I left Brinkley and followed Interstate 40 to Little Rock and pick up Interstate 30 down to Arkadelphia. Then I turned west and flew to the small town of Nashville, Arkansas to refuel. At this point in the book I believe the author’s memory is a little hazy in that he says “we reached the Red River and dashed across the hard, beige plains along the southeastern corner of Oklahoma”. Now the last time I was in the southeastern corner of Okalahoma the Ouachita National Forest was there. Anyway I flew on into Oklahoma following US highway 70 to Durant, Oklahoma were I landed to top off the fuel tanks. Leaving Durant I flew over Lake Texoma into Texas. Using large lakes as landmarks, Lake Bridgeport, Possum Kingdom Lake and Hubbard Creek Reservoir I flew to the small town of Albany, Texas for the end of day 3.

Crossing the Mississippi
Memphis
Leaving Brinkley early in the morining.
Southeast Oklahoma
Durant, Oklahoma
Lake Texoma
Possum Lake, Texas
Approaching Albany, Texas
