I finally finished my cross country flight that I had started back in September, based on the book "Flight of Passage" about two teenage brothers who flew their family's Piper Cub from New Jersey to California to visit their Uncle. I tried to follow the same route they took stopping at the same airports (if the still exist). I only used a compass, watch, speed and VFR sectionals to navigate just as they did. El Paso New Mexico Tucson San Diego Land Mark San Juan Capistrano where they landed but the airport doesn't exist now so I landed and John Wayne Airport. Route

Nice flight! Maybe John-Wayne airport was the place they landed at when Buck got them in to trouble with the light gun signals. ;D "Kern, are you sure it was green? Because that 747 just did a go-around" Best part of the book right there, oh, actually it ties with the avocado departure! ;D

Congratulations on completing the journey. One of the nice things about doing these virtual flights is that we can take as much real-time as we like. The difference between our two countries is very great: the distance from one side to the other is much the same yet a flight across Australia would pass over 80% unpopulated land. Totally different with the USA. Regards, Bruce

People might start settling in the peaks of the Rocky Mountains in a few years to make room here, so if your still have some of that 80% around I might wanna go over there. ;D It looks hot and dry though, too often...

It looks hot and dry though, too often... Well, now you know why it's mostly unpopulated! ;D Bruce
