Just thought I would share an early-morning flight I made, utilising some of Froggy's 'Vintage Scotland' airfields. This flight takes us from Renfrew (Glasgow) in west-central Scotland, via Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Loch Ness to Inverness on the Moray Firth (north eastern Scotland). Taking off from Renfrew in Chris Herring's fine DH-16 we first turn west along the Clyde Estuary then north to traverse the length of Loch Lomond. From the northern end of the Loch we climb steadily - there's some low cloud about so we need to be clear of the mountain peaks, there are several 'Munroes' around here (mountains over 3,000 feet in old money). After passing over 'The Great Moor of Rannoch', a beautiful, desolate, wild, boggy place, and descending through the pass of Glencoe (scene of the famous massacre and more recently a backdrop for a Harry Potter movie), we enter the 'Great Glen'and turn starboard up Loch Linnhe. The Great Glen, the Caledonian Canal and a series of Lochs follow a huge fault line running diagonally northeast across Scotland - an ideal VFR signpost! It's around here that the TV serial 'Monarch of the Glen' was filmed. We've reached the sothwest end of Loch Ness. And found some typical weather - not much chance of spotting 'Nessie' I doubt, but the mist is patchy and will soon disperse. At last Inverness is in sight. Maybe we can get a second breakfast if we are lucky! Hope ypu enjoyed flying with me! Leyland

Enjoyed the flight, Leyland, but I'll pass on the second breakfast - I'm about at my max gross weight already!

Beautiful scenery, Leyland. And a very educational tour, too. Bruce
