This next leg was from Powell River (CYPW) to Port Hardy (CYZT). The flight plan; My flight planner gave me the following headings; 1. CYPW to CYBL 284 deg. 30.6nm 2. CYBL to WPT1 344 deg. 23.7nm 3. WPT1 to CYZT 289 deg. 76.8 nm These headings have not been corrected for wind or compass error. Once I reached Campbell River (CYBL), all I needed to do was follow the coast of Vancouver Island. I would only need the headings if I got into a heavy fog. In that case I planned to make the corrections in flight with my flight computer. I could have taken a straight path to Port Hardy, but in doing so I would have missed some spectacular scenery along the north-western coast of Vancouver Island. Leaving Powell River. Turning north to follow the coast at Campbell River. Approaching the point at WPT1. Flying over the scenic area between the Queen Charlotte Strait and The Strait of Georgia. This is a very beautiful area and the particular reason why I chose this route. Passing Port McNeill. Lovely looking little town. Coming in for landing at Port Hardy, a few miles up the coast from Port McNiell. Flight time was a little over an hour.

Kevin, Lovely shots. I can understand why you enjoy flying in this area the most of all.
I'll follow this leg tonight when I get home from work.
Regards, Bruce.

Thanks Bruce. I'll be looking forward to seeing how your flight comes out. Since I couldn't access the interenet at the time I did this flight I was still using the weather data from the previous flight. I was also trying out some new water that I downloaded for Xplane that better suits the darker water in this area than the bright blue water that Xplane 8.60 has as default.

Kevin, This time I changed to FSX and used the FSX version of Jens' Vultee in American Airlines livery. I have the Alaskan Airlines version for FS9 but not for FSX. Flying along the island towards Port Hardy. The landscape is very nice in FSX with the mesh much "sharper" than GW3/FS9. But the trees are very similar . Port Hardy ahead. I was using real-world weather.....a bit bumpy and cloudy but otherwise no problems. at least the visibility was good. On finals. The Vultee handles very gently. Regards, Bruce

Nice pictures, Bruce. That is a nice looking plane. I'll have to check that plane out some time. I may have already downloaded it in one of my downloading sessions.
I just got done planning my next stage of the flight (sometimes I spend as much time planning as flying) and putting all the data into a format that I can load into my experimental PSP Electronic Flightbag. If that turns out to work well, it'll save me a lot of paper. ;D
