Hello All,
I don't know how many times I've flown day one,but each time has been different. Here's some photos from the scenery along with the story of the flight.
1. 9 a.m., time to leave the Dearborn Inn and get to Ford Airport.
2. Just after 9 a.m., entering the main gate past the passenger terminal.
3. In the plane and taxing toward the terminal and the parking area for "The National Air Tour".
4. This is the hangar for the Ford Flivvers along with refueling and observation deck.
5. NAT Parking area scenery only visible during the Tours from 1925 through 1931.
6. The parking spots are identified by manufacturer.
7. Waco parking area, complete with truck, tent and picnic tables. Just waiting for start time.
8. Took off and flew east to the Detroit River, now passing the city port and docks. Belle Island is to the north.
9. The conservatory on Belle Island. You will also find the Detroit Yacht Club, Lighthouse Tower, and Aeromarine Barge.
10. The Tower Light House on Belle Island built in 1929 and complete with rotating beacon.
11. Going back south, the Walker Whiskey Factory is on the left. Now you know why its called Walkerville Airport, not Windsor.
12. The FBO at Walkerville Airport, complete with "Welcome" sign.
13. Time to pull into the Hangar, compare the model with the actual building see the postcard in the Walkerville Airport Thread.
14. After taking off I flew southeast to the north shore of Lake Erie. Followed the shoreline to Buffalo New York, then a heading of 082 for 31 nautical miles. The first site is the Jell-O Factory, now a paint ball center.
15. After landing, taxing toward the hangar. NAT parking areas are located at every airfield visited.
16. The hangar at Woodward Field, Le Roy, New York. This is where we stop for the night. Stay up after 9 p.m. and you'll see the fire works or take a recreational flight northwest to Niagara Falls.
This concludes Day One, tomorrow I'll test Day Two and post photos. Won't be as many, about 10. Until then enjoy, and hopefully the first seven days will be released by next weekend.
Sincerely
MoCat
