We're now starting day 10 of the National Air Tour which means we're leaving our overnight stop at Maxwell Field in Montgomery. I've got to say that those Air Force boys really know how to party. Not that I remember much of the festivities but one look at the hostile crowd gathering prompted my to take my trusty Cessna AW and make a hasty retreat out of town toward Gulfport, Mississippi.
I never did figure out when the buzz in my head stopped and the buzz of the airplane started but before I knew it I was flying over KGPT. Just to make sure I navigated correctly I fly over the hanger to verify my location.
After a bumpy landing I taxi over to the hanger for a quick checkup.
Everything checks out OK so I run my Cessna by the stands to wave to the cheering hoards of fans... Well, maybe they are waiting for the Travel Airs to arrive.
Since I'm not stopping here overnight I taxi over to the station to top off the tanks and become airborne once more.
Here we go! we've reached The big easy, otherwise known as New Orleans. Wendell-Williams airfield is now in site and I can't wait to set her down and grab some solid food.
These guys work hard and are known for their quality work. Since there is alot of empty space in the hanger I think I'll drop in for another check up.
Later, after validating my race time at the front office I move the Cessna to the National Air Tour area so the lady's can admire my wheels!
Now this is what I'm talking about! If you leave this place hungry it's your darn fault!
Found my spot for parking. Now all I've got to do for the rest of the day is sign autographs and pose for pictures. Ahhh, it's a hard life but somebody has to do it.
