I decided I’d like to move my area of operation down to Vancouver Island for a while. However, being accustom to Misty Fjords’ scenery, the default scenery just wasn’t cutting it for me. Though I would love to get Holger Sandmann’s payware Vancouver Island scenery, it’s out of my budget right now, so I thought I’d see what I could come up with using some freeware scenery. First I got Fsgenesis’ freeware 38.2m mesh for Vancouver. For scenery and land class, I got, Jon Patch’s and Holger Sandmann’s Victoria scenery, Joel Gill’s BC roads, Harvey Janszen’s Shoreline landclass and several airport sceneries. The results of all these scenery packages put together create some pretty spectacular scenery for Vancouver. I highly recommend it. Here are some shots to show how it looks. ( I moved a few weeks ahead to spring because I was getting a little tired of the winter textures. ;D ) Here are the names of the files if you want to give it a go. I think I got them all from Avsim, (except the mesh which was in the freeware section on FSGenesis’ site) dem38m_can_vancouver.zip evi04_v131.zip vicenh05.zip british_columbia_road_system.zip cycd_nanaimo.zip qbv1_fs9.zip

Nice shots and a nice little plane as well! Thanks. The Maule M7-260 series are great planes for bush flying. I’ve had it for a while, but if you haven’t already got it, I think it can be found at Avsim or Flightsim. The package includes two taildrager variants, a tricycle, skis and an amphibian version. Though it is freeware, it’s got the quality of a payware package. Here I am about to leave CAt4, my choice for home base while operating here. A couple mnts shots.

Thanks. It took quite a bit of downloading to get this combination that works pretty well, but I think it was worth it. There are a few errors typical to freeware such as raised lakes here and there and some of the rivers are in the wrong place, But for the price, I can’t complain. ;D Did a little more exploring today. Here is a good shot of CAT4, it's very nice for a freeware airport. A couple shots flying near Victoria.
