Note: This post contains pictures of Keith's scenery, if you haven't flown there, you may not want to look at these yet. I've avoided pictures of any surprises, so if you want to see my first flight, just scroll down. I just did the included flight to the abandon airstrip and it was a lot of fun. After loading the flight, I switched out of the Cessna 172 to a Piper Archer II. Taking off from Isla del Sur. Not much Visibility up here. I descended to a level where I could see the ground on approaching the island. From here I circled the island looking for interesting things, which I will not post here, but on finding the runway, I decided it would be better to make a steep turning landing, rather than loose the runway in this fog. Here is my landing. ;D Taxiing to parking, I noticed that I was not alone. Hopefully I haven't stumbled onto something shady. ;D As promised, this flight was an adventure. Thanks Captain Keith.

Glad you had fun. Thanks for sharing the pics as well. BTW, I think there is a little something "odd" going on at that abandoned airfield as well.

CptKeith- I d/l your "Adventures" and have one newbie question...how do I turn the Ford Tri-Motor around to take off from the fenced taxi way..I have tried everything I can think of ;>(

Royce, Taxiing with the Tri-Motor is difficult for me too. You have to use the rudders, and then put on a little throttle, then just jab the breaks for a couple seconds and it will turn wherever your rudders were set to turn it. Also, becareful that you dont touch the rudders in the air because when I tried to, it had no effect, but when I landed..the rudder took effect and I went careening off the runway lol

I have been considering having my wife help me turn the Ford on the ground. She would manage the rudder and brakes while I manage the differential engine power. The guys I know who flew the real Fords all agree that it was a handful, but this is one case where I suspect that the sim is more challenging than the real thing.

To tame the Ford Trimotor, go into the aircraft.cfg and find this line: [contact_points] point.0=1, -36.5, 0.0, 0.5, 1200.0, 0, 0.74, 180.0, 0.240, 2.5, 0.695, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0
Change the 180.0 to 60.0 and it will taxi nicely. Probably not authentic but certainly more fun.

I'll have to do some more investigating there. ;D Today I just did some pleasure cruising. I chose a very light plane, the Legacy 2000. A fast little plane that's great for leaning back and enjoying the scenery. The weather themes included with the scenery are great. I'm enjoying the tropical breath one in these following shots.

Thanks ALL- I don't have any problem flying the Tri Motor in general..actually I like the plane. But in CptK's adventure the AC starts off facing the fencing and I just couldn't turn it in the space on loading up the sim.
At the moment I don't recall if this particular "adventure" started with the Tri motor or I replaced a stock smaller plane with it ;>)

Well, you have to do a pushback as far as you can go, then hold the left brake and power up the right engine while leaving the others at idle. This will get that cranky old bird out of there for you. Once you clear the fence you are OK.

shift-P followed by either 1 or 2 will push back and swing the tail left or right

Though I don't currently have any installed, there are some handy freeware pushback utilities out there too. I used to have Co-Pilot, which had a nice pushback option.
