Today I did the two food supply activities that came with KHPv2. They seemed more to me like switching jobs rather than supply hauling, but they were a lot of fun nonetheless. They make for some nice switching practice.

Kevin, Whilst my first love is long-haul, I do like the occasional switching and short-haul job. Good for filling in an hour.

Kevin, Whilst my first love is long-haul, I do like the occasional switching and short-haul job. Good for filling in an hour. Bruce They're also perfect for when you don't have a lot of time on hand. But I also enjoy a good long haul too. I also enjoy passenger hauling from time to time. It's been a while since I've had a good long passenger run, so I was pleased to find one for KHPv2 on Mophouse. Just finished setting it up and am looking forward to it tomorrow. Here's the train, a EMD F40. I decided to replace the cab with one made by Dwight Mitchell. Thanks for the HU on his cabs, Bruce. The end of the train. Riding in the observation dome. It would sure be fun to tour Canada like this for real.

I decided to replace the cab with one made by Dwight Mitchell. Thanks for the HU on his cabs, Bruce. ...... Dwight is THE artist when it comes to cabs. In fact, I prefer his work to those cabs which use photos. I had a boyhood dream of flying to Canada aboard a Canadian Pacific airliner and then travelling across Canada from Vancouver aboard the F7-hauled "Canadian". EDIT: Kevin, if you're interested, here is the Canadian, 1955 version, complete for download from CP's corporate site:- www8.cpr.ca/cms/English/General+Public/Train+Downloads/Canadian/default.htm?Show=Cab%20ViewI must download that Activity, Kevin. Do you have the file-name? Bruce

Thanks, Bruce. That's a great find. I just got done doing a flight, so I haven't done that passenger activity yet. I think I'll replace the train that it uses with that one. The file name is 'mawvia2p.zip; for the activity. It contains two activities, one east and one west. It is in the activity section of the MLT Library forum on Mophouse. EDIT: I just installed it (the 1955 trainset). It even includes example consists for both east and west. All I had to do was make copies of these consists and rename them to the two east and west consists used in the activities. This is much more authentic looking which will add to the feeling of the activities. Thanks again for the HU, Bruce

Kev, I had that train several years ago (it was created by a CPR employee, Harold Clitheroe, who did a few CPR items for MSTS). It is a perfect period piece for that Activity, which I have downloaded and will start tonight (I'm at work at the moment......2:35 PM Friday afternoon. Roll on 4:30!! ) Bruce

When I get to Field, I think I will continue on with this train through Rogers Pass as well. Wish I had an activity to continue it so I'd have some AI traffic as well. Maybe I'll open up activity editor and see if I can come up with anything. Activity Editor crashes on a lot of 3rd party routes when I try to use it, hopefuly it'll work with RP. Friday evening is always nice. Is till have another day to go through before I reach the weekend here yet. ;D

That AE is very sensitive. Bruce

For a while I thought that the AE was missing from my version of MSTS, but I recently discovered that an AE tutorial that I had downloaded a while back had instructed me to start the editor by going to a certain folder in the MSTS directory and select the editor file. However there was no such folder in my directory. Recently I found out that it can be loaded by adding a suffix command to the MSTS launcher. I had wanted to try to make a passenger activity for the Milwaukee Road Dv.1v2 using the freeware Hiawatha train, but that route seems to crash the editor every time. I suspect that the Hidewire utility used during the routes renovation may be the culprit. I just placed my order for 3Dtrain's Feather River package. With 3Dtrains being in the next state over, it'll probably arrive some time the middle of next week. That'll probably keep me too busy to mess around with the editor for a while.

I'll see if I can find any info on the CP's 1960's Canadian timetable and, if so, I'll look at doing an Activity that spans all three divisions. Bruce

I'll also keep an eye out. By the way, in case you're interested, here is a interesting store I found (if you haven't already found it) that sells railroad and airline Collectibles. I was looking at the timetables they had for sale but they didn't currently have any from the KHP,RP and Shuswap area. www.classicrail.com/store.html

Sounds like a good deal, hope you win the bid. I did. Not just the timetable but also a CPR travel brochure from the same period. Should be here in a week or so and then I will do a 3-part Activity spanning all three routes. In the meantime I'm putting together another on the MILW route......I really like those Little Joe's! Sounds like you got a good deal. I'll be looking forward to both activities. I like those 'Little Joes' as well. By the way, does AE crash when you try to use it with the MILW Div.1v2 route?
