When I found out after getting Rail Simulator, that I could not use my Raildriver controls yet, I started pondering if there were any alternatives to the keyboard I could use until the RD drivers come out. Noticing a USB Logitech Dual Controller that I keep around, laying on my desk, I remembered a little utility that came with it that allows you to assign keyboard commands to the controller. I thought I'd give it a try. Here is how I set it up; I was surprised at just how well this works! Also it is easier on my hands than the keyboard. I was sorry that I hadn't thought of this back when I didn't have a RD. I had tried to do something similar with my CH Throttle Quadrant, but that had turned out not to be as successful. Anyway, I thought I'd pass this idea on for anyone looking for a cheap alternative to the keyboard for MSTS or RS. As this controller sells for only 19.95USD. Personally I wouldn't choose this over the Raildrive, but I do like this setup better than using the keyboard alone.

Kevin, Thanks for that tip. I have exactly the same controller and never even thought to use it for Train Sim. I've just set mine up.....somewhat different to yours but I can now replace 90% of most-used key-presses with the Logitech. Good stuff! Bruce

I find that using this controller works quite well for me. I use the HU display so I can keep track of where everything is set and the rest already seems second nature. Okay fellas....... you are both starting to scare me. (smile) I might have to look into this. Cheers!! I know that the Logitech isn't the only controller out there that has a utility like this, so if you happen to have a PC controller laying around, chances are it could have a simular utility on it's drivers disc.

Brilliant idea, Kevin!
I haven't got one, so think I'll take a trip to Wal Mart. Then sit back in my easy chair, sip my coffee, and drive, drive, drive . . .
I'm assuming it's just as responsive as the keyboard?

..I'm assuming it's just as responsive as the keyboard?... I find it faster to use, Dan. And yes, response is immediate. Bruce
