Wow! It installed without a glitch. I then just set all my sliders to high quality (installed the NO CD patch) and gave her a run. I am getting extreme detail and about 75-80 fps so I am one happy camper with this nice little sim.
Here are some screenshots and a short video from my first hour or so in the drivers seat. Enjoy! ** The Screenshots **** The Video **www.simtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=94a4d0972046fc566af7

Very nice, Keith! Great atmospherics and those engines look extremelly real - dusty, dirty, and downright authentic!! Glad to see you hear - nice change of pace, isn't it . . . Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Best wishes, I get all mine from Game Copy World, it's the only place I trust. Just Google "Rail Simularor no cd patch" and the link at Game Copy World should be the first or second link. Sure saves your CDs and drive for sure. I found that RS also loads much faster with the patch to. I sure wish that some of those objects could be used for Fs scenery. Man, they do look great.

Wow, that looks great Keith. I tried loading the demo, but RS does support x64 yet. They say in the FAQs they will have a future update release to cure the problem. That will allow me some time to get a handle on the Railroads program I metioned in another thread.
Let's hope someday FS can handle scenes like RS has, and with that kind of graphics quality. I think FS has been behind on the advanced developement of their graphics engine for years now, or they ain't tellin us the truth again. Geez, even Second Life is developing a version for use with Havok IV, and is beta now. I'm not sure any of you have ever seen the latest Unreal graphics engine, but it is fantastic, and with MS's longevity in the computer world you would think they would be more, or the most advanced. I suppose it is how you perceive the whole mess.

Thanks Bruce. Did you ever get your issue with it sorted out? It would be a shame to miss this. ... I bit the bullet and installed it to my laptop, Keith.....which I didn't want to do, not wanting to install Securom onto it. But c'est la vie....it's there now. The sim runs fine. With default graphics settings and running out of San Bernadino (default Scenario) I'm getting between 21 and 35 fps, depending upon the view and viewpoint. It looks fine but I've essentially shelved it at the moment because, after the richness of the sounds in MSTS, I just cannot get used to the thin sounds in RS. The SD40 and Dash 9 sound like 50cc motor scooters in comparison with their equivalents in MSTS. Regards, Bruce

Keith.... thanks for the info for the "No CD Patch." I'm out this week on a short business trip but will download the patch for sure. I just hate having to always have a CD in the drive to run the program.
Like Bruce said.... the sounds for MSTS from 3D trains and the Maple Leaf stuff is great. I'll be glad when RS has been out a while and the "wizards" will make it a great sim.
Living in the Southern Cal area not far from the Cajon pass I must say that the graphics are true to life. I must also admit that your screen shots as always are fantastic. Sure wish I was that talented. (smile)
Best wishes,

.....Living in the Southern Cal area not far from the Cajon pass I must say that the graphics are true to life. .... For a foreigner, I find it good to know that, Steve. Every route that I drive in Train Sim, every location that I fly over in Flight Sim, I wonder just how close it is to representing real life, because I have no way of knowing. Bruce

Nice pictures, Keith. Glad to read you're enjoying KRS. I just got it myself and have been enjoying the Oxford to Paddington route. Though sadly one of the scenarios always crashes at a certain spot (doesn't look like I'm going to get any help from Kuju either) but the other scenarios I've tried work fine.
I'm saving the US route until PI releases the Raildriver drivers so I can enjoy those US trains as I'm used to handling them in the other sims.

I too am always wondering how close it is to the "As real as it gets." (smile) I'm taking a week of vacation later this month so I'll try to head up that way and snap a few photos. I think you'll be as amazed as I was at how close they captured the ambiance of the high desert. Cheers!

Well, some people frown on No CD patches but honestly I hate to be forced to leave my CD in the drive. First off if wears out the drive and also can damage the CD/DVD so I like to install the software and safely tuck my disk into the box for safe keeping.
EDIT: Hey, does anyone know of any nice free or pay add-ons for Rail Sim?
