So far I've only downloaded a few free addons as I'm spending most of the time in Trainz2006 for now. Here are those I've installed in KRS. Port Ogden & Northern-Jim Ward- train-sim.com/Name: pon_us1.zip Size: 5,219,895 Date: 01-26-2008 Downloads: 599 Kuju Rail Simulator Route--Port Ogden & Northern USA 1. Requires US version of Rail Simulator or Cajon Pass addon. By Jim Ward. The EA 'bonus' packs for the US release can be had here. Each contains a short scenerio in the Cajon Pass and some new skins, including black SD40 and ES44. If you haven't installed *.rpk's before: Copy 'setup.exe' and the 5 folders to your hd. 'Setup.exe' will install the Rail Simulator Package Manager to your Start>Programs. Use it to install each of the *.rpk files. Dave

There's a PO&N route for KRS over at Train_Sim that looks pretty interesting. I've seen no activities for it yet, but it comes with starting points. The file name is: pon_us2.zip.
If you haven't done so yet. be sure to install the MK1 update before installing any addons at it will reset your sim to the default scenery.

Well... here we go. I installed the update (after I removed the no cd patch and replaced it with the the original .exe) and once I restarted Rail Simulator it was totally messed up. It loaded in a different language each time and crashed to desktop over and over. So I had to do an un-install and re-install. I am not adding the stupid MK1 update since it made my perfect running game run like crap. I hate so called "updates."

Sorry to hear it did that to you. It ran fine on mine, as I would not have recommended it if I had thought it would have caused you trouble.
I installed it because it's required to be able to use the Raildriver once PI releases the needed drivers.
I'm not sure why it messed yours up, but sorry about giving you a bum steer.

I installed it because it's required to be able to use the Raildriver once PI releases the needed drivers. I'm not sure why it messed yours up, but sorry about giving you a bum steer. Oh, I didn't mean it that way... I was just venting my thoughts on the "so-called updates" and the discontent they bring most of the time. Honestly I should know by now. Almost every game or even other software update is the same. The developer offers an update and the update breaks more than it fixes. I think it is hit and miss with all software. Some people had horror stories with Rail Simulator and I almost didn't install it because of all the problems I read about. But, after having it for a month I installed it and it worked great for me when it didn't for others. Then the update fixed some peoples problems but broke mine. That's software for you. Once a typical Windows update crashed my PC. Since then I turned off auto updates and I do them once a month myself and I really watch what I update. Also, I ALWAYS clone my drive before I make any major software changes. I had a fresh copy of my hard drive already cloned so if Rail Sim install would have went south I could have just put my other drive in and everything would have been back to normal. I just can see how the languages got all jumbled up when I chose English from the setup menu but, no big deal really because I didn't have any custom stuff. Kevin, let me know when the new drivers are available for RailDriver because I really want to buy that for sure. No sense now though since it won't work yet. That looks really nice though. I bet I would enjoy it. That will mean installing the stinky update again though??? Well, I will cross that bridge once I come to it (again) I guess.

Keith,
I'm just guessing here, but it might be that having used the no-cd .exe before the upgrade attempt may be the problem. A clean re-install may be in order.
It's my opinion that the MK1 upgrade is worth another attempt, and is better done sooner than later so you don't have to worry about backing up or losing add-on content.

No worries, Keith, I didn't think you were angry at me, I just wanted you to know that I sympathize as I've been there all to often. You never know what's going to work and what won't. What Dave says might be worth checking into as I believe the update replaces the start file, so a different version of the no-cd patch may be needed. I'm not using the nocd patch as they always seem to crash my computer when I use them. (so I'm pretty much stuck with wearing the disc out.) I had installed the update in mine right after installing the sim before running it, so that may also be why it worked for me. As for the Raildriver, I've had mine for about two months now and I love it. For me both MSTS and Trainz are greatly improved by it. I'm sure KRS will be as well once PI gets those drivers out. The Raildriver doesn't really cost much more than a yoke and is well worth it IMHO.

Thanks guys. I replaced the no cd patch with the original before the update and then did not put it back again after but still got the weird results. I tried again (third attempt) with the fresh new copy and got the same results. I am at a loss for words at the moment. I had to un-install it again. I haven't re-installed it again yet but I will do that before I go to bed. For now I will have to run it with out the update or learn a new language. Stinks huh?

That reminds me, I read on the Rail Simulator Forum that the update adds the ability to change the language in the options. I don't think the readme mentions this so it could be easy to miss. If you haven't checked it already, you might want to check it and make sure it's set to English. Here's a picture of the menu;

Nice catch, Kevin, didn't think of that possibility. I think the initial setting is 'Default OS'. Maybe Keith has a multi-lingual OS..and it gets confused Dave
