Today a train simulator called 'Mobile Train Simulator' for the Sony PSP, that I order from Asia finally arrive. I picked it up on Ebay for pretty cheap and wasn't really expecting it to be more than a video game, but it's actually a pretty decent sim with four Japanese routes.
It's a bit on the tough side though with something like a 4 meter stopping area at each station, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. The graphics are photoreal and very realistic looking.
The only downside to the sim is that you don't see that cab, just the gauges. I guess the designers felt that with that little screen you'd lose to much of the view.
If I can figure out how to get this video thing on my digital camera working right, I'll post a video of it. ;D

Yah Kevin, my kids had that for the PSP, they got it from GameStop. If I remember right, it kinda reminds you of BVE with photo-realistic route panaramas. I found it hard at first to operate, but as I worked with it a bit the train control was much easier, just like most things, practice, practice, practice.

It does make me think of a photorealistic looking BVE. It'll make a fun diversion away from the PC. ;D Here is the video I promised for anyone interested in seeing what it looks like. Sadly a fair bit of quality was lost in the conversion from avi to flash video. youtube.com/watch?v=QQlRBU8-HzUNot one of my better stops, but doing this through the camera was kind of difficult. ;D

Very nice.....and certainly in the BVE genre. Bruce The more I play it the more I'm convinced that it was probably inspired by BVE. (Probably a lot of train sims made in Japan are.) ;D I think this sim may actually use video instead of true 3D as it looks so photo realistic. If it does though, the designers did a fantastic job of it as cars and pedestrians maintain a constant pace whether you're slowing or accelerating. Their is also other train traffic to deal with. At any rate it gives me some new Japanese routes to play around with. ;D I'm still trying to get the Japanese routes addon for MSTS, but so far that places I've tried to get it from have refused to sell it outside of Europe as they consider it to be a 'video game'. (Though recently there was one person who offered to sell it to me through Ebay. If it's still available once I have some more funds I may check into that.)
