Some years back I downloaded Bruce Bridge's CIv1 (2002), followed a year later by his update, CIv2.
In 2006 a further updated version was made available, with additional scenery, by John Finney.
I recently downloaded this version (cr_indy2.zip) and installed it, added the latest versions of XTracks and NewRoads, and headed off from Avon towards Indianapolis and parts further west, only to have error messages pop up almost immediately after starting.
These messages referred to missing .SMS files "moderntrack", so a hunt in Train-sim.com's library quickly found the required file, modtrkv2.zip.
After unzipping this to the main Sounds folder, the problem disappeared.
I enjoyed the first version and must say that this most recent update is even better.....the additional scenery detailing has enhanced what was a very good original.
The mostly double-tracked route provides an enjoyable change from the climbs, valleys and tunnels of the Rockies, or the dryness of the Californian and other western landscapes, as it transits the flat farmlands of Indiana and the western extent of Ohio.
It is set in the final years of Conrail's operations but there is nothing to stop anyone using CSX equipment, or even pre-Conrail, for that matter.
Just be aware that, prior to running it, you get that modern track file, and also be aware that it comes with a few Activities, Services and Traffic files, which you will need to dump in order to avoid the "Can't Find...." error messages relating to consists and rolling stock.
Here is a shot from an Activity I'm working on which is taken from real life (Bruce Bridges provided a nice collection of information, in his original creation, relating to actual operations on the line).
Union Pacific-hauled consists were regularly seen, made up of chemical tankers and covered hoppers.
