Anybody else doing the FSLog thing? I started today. Have made two logged flights. One of the good things about it is I "feel obligated" to actually finish my flights, something I don't always do especially when I'm testing a new plane.

Hate to sound like a dummy Tom but what is FSLog? I'm game for anything but like you I do a lot of test flying and when I'm done I just quit the game. Please bring me up to speed on this, it does sound interesting.
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil- Microsoft sent out a survey a few months ago. Some of the people who filled it out got a second survey and some got invited to install this fslog program on their computer (I was one of those) Whenever I close FS now, it sends a report to Microsoft on what I did. Apparently they are trying to figure out how to make us happy with the next version

Heck thats easy! Just make a sim that runs from 1920 to 1940 and fill it full of planes and scenery. Interesting though, I hadn't heard about that from MS. Thanks for the dope Tom.
Cheers,
Phil

I got my stuff in an e-mail yesterday but I haven't had a chance to install it yet. Hopefully tomorrow. I hope I'll get a chance to actually do some flying during the life of this program! In recent months all I've done is a few very brief tests to check out new planes or scenery. The large majority of the time I've booted up FS9 has been to check out my repaints on the Select Aircraft menu, and I haven't been doing much painting, either. Much of my shortness of time has had to do with nursing my constant copilot Scooter the Cat back to health. Almost three months ago he started what became a cascading series of potentially lethal illnesses, which peaked with a major heart attack and segued into anorexia which resulted in hepatic lipidosis. And those are just the big things. Scooter's doing quite well now, but he still needs more of my time than he normally would. And he is milking it for all it's worth! Dealing with his string of maladies was more difficult, more time-consuming, more expensive and lasted longer than getting Rusty through his bout with cancer a few years ago! Sometimes my Boys are a trial, but they're worth it to me! Anyway, the crises seem to be over, the patient is feeling great, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I might actually get to do some flying in the near future. So tomorrow I should get the software installed. I wonder what MS will think of a simmer who shuts down more often than not without even starting a flight? I wonder if they can tell when a flight ends because the user shut the sim down and when it ends because the sim crashed. When I do get to make a flight, it usually ends with FS9 locking up my computer or crashing to the desktop. If there's any one thing I hope they learn from this exercise, it's how unreliable FS9 can be!
