When Train Sim Isn't Good Enough

My brother and father are both railroad enthusiasts (Airplanes are roller coasters for them, a scary thrill) and for quite awhile have been involved in a miniature railroad park in Riverside,CA.

They both have said they would get some track installed at our place, but have only now begun to build it.

Doesn't interest me as much as airplanes, but might be something you'd find interesting.

I'd love to get into "garden railways". I've got enough room here to create something of reasonable size.
Would be good for entertaining the grandchildren.

Kobbe.... Thanks for the pictures! Yes, I wish I had the property and know-how to build something such as this.

I actually made a visit to the "Live Steamers" park a few weeks back while my father-in-law was in town visiting. It was an amazing hobby!

That's interesting. Do those locomotives work with steam like the real ones or have an electric engine? ( sory, I know nothing about it.)

He's the one in the second picture on the engine.

They definitely aren't cheap. I once saw one selling for $50,000.

Windrunner, I'm no expert either, but I do know they are true steam engines. Riverside Live Steamers is a "Steam Only" park, but there are electric engines. My brother has both an electric and steam engine. The steam one was passed down to him, though.

I enjoyed running the electric train around at Bitter Creek Railroad but decided it wasn't for me when I ended up going the wrong direction through a series of switches.
