Please note that this not another plea for help with scenery issues.
I noticed that after I ran GW with GH installed I was able to take off from several other airports not listed as add-on scenery. One example was the Pacific LTA command field. After I loaded up SW, I noticed that these add-on scenery airports were listed, even though I did not merge GH with SW. Anyway else ever notice this phenomenon? I did not see listed anymore the SW airports appropriate for the early Jet era which I had downloaded. One example that comes to mind was Tom Gibson’s beautiful Honolulu International (PHNL) airport. What caused this change? GW and SW and for that matter FS9 will copy over the same scenery files to each of the various installations of FS9 depending on whether you load GW or SW. You are probably wondering how you can accommodate this change if you use both GW and SW. For those of you who like to fly in GW and SW, you should make a copy of both your scenery bgls located in the ocean folders of GW and SW. After copying the files, place them in separate folder. Be sure to name the folders to denote the different files. If you just want to depart from the GW add-on airports, and are in GW, make sure the GW scenery file is in the ocean GW folder. If you want to just depart from the SW add-on airports, and are in SW, make sure the SW scenery file is in the SW folder. Following this general rule of thumb will avoid you having to take in the middle of Africa or in the ocean.
I don’t know if anyone has raised this issue which I thought was very interesting. I hope my description and tutorial helped you.
Sincerely,
Walter
